My Explorer lost four minutes in a Sun Valley hot tub last year. The whole night was a blur, but well worth it (I think).

Now that you mention it, I recall losing a whole night in a hot tub in Aspen one Winter's night. But my Expl.II worked fine...

I had to go to do some exercises for my damaged shoulder. I went during six months to the pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna three days per week with my 5513 and no issues. I always remember a comment done in this forum..."Rolex are built like tanks"

Bingo, to me it is not worth the risk. Pool and Ocean, definitely yes!

We've had a customer with an 18k yellow gold Daytona wear it in a hot tub in which the chemical balance was off and it stained the whole watch a dark brownish gold. Very unattractive. We refinished the watch to restore the color, and forgetting to screw the crown down is the other killer that is mentioned earlier.

Fiddlesticks..

The water in a hot tub or in a sauna is neither "extreme", nor is it even really very hot..

Outside temps here in the Desert the past few weeks have been way hotter than the water in any hot tub and there is still weeks of the same ahead.

Your watch doesn't know it's "hot"..

It depends on the type of o-ring. Some might be temperature sensitive.

Does Rolex advertise technical specifications? I figure for a watch that cost thousands that is supposed to be a tool watch that there would be some sort of data sheet to go with it. I wonder what data sheet the Provided COMEX????

I have dealt with a lot of O-Rings (mostly nitrile duro 70 and 90 orings) in various applications and I can tell you this...a hot tub should not have a negative affect on them...

Can I wear Rolex in a hot tub

I wear mine in the steam room, sauna and hot tub just about everyday. Been doing it for years. Never had an issue. Safer on the wrist than in the locker.
However, I do not do this with my vintage watches.

To each, their own but I always just take mine off for these types of things. Same with working out or just hopping in the shower. Set it aside for a few and then slip it back on when I'm done.

Hot tub, sauna all the time, zero issues. Nice way of cleaning the watch.
I never take it off. It may fall on a tile floor or get lost in the locker room.

Yeah, but the movement will know when its wet (with water or moisture).
No offense but I trust Rikki's opinion over yours as you are not a CW21 to the best of my knowledge... if you are my apologies.

Didn’t think it was worth starting a new thread, but wanted to solicit opinions on an issue I’ve now experienced twice after having a Rolex diver in a hot tub. First with a sub c and now my sd 43. Both developed distortion (peeling) of the AR coating under the cyclops after a few dips in the hot tub. I’ve read the above postings where there’s been no issue and I figured once was an anomaly, but twice. I feel like Bruce Willis. The crystal was replaced under warranty last time and got a nice travel case for my troubles - so, I’m not really upset more perplexed that I could have the same issue twice. Am I the outlier?

Lots of "if you can handle it your watch can handle it".

Yes this is true in the short term, but after many repeated uses in the hot tub you may start to wear the gaskets down and need a servicing a lot sooner than if you didn't use it in the hot tub.

If this is a very occasional occurrence as you've stated then don't worry about it at all, go for it!

Info posted in the Q&A area at the Sinn website states that chemicals in pools / hot tubs can attack <their> seal materials. I think they are Viton material? That is the same material used in old Carburetor float valve seals.

But I do not know what Rolex uses as seal materials.

Anyhoo just to be safe I <myslef> would not go into a pool or hot tub with any watch just as a precaution against potential chemical damage.

Also the bromine used in hot tubs can color some PM's as has been noted in more than one location in these watch forums.

Why take a risk with unknowns?

NO !

There is another thread on this forum that is about 12 pages long .. The last post was yesterday .. about a Rolex Yellow gold / steel watch that has been for a dip in a hot tub and the gold has been affected and changed colour.

The Hot tub in question did have too much chemicals in it though.

Proceed with caution and thoroughly rinse your watch off afterwards.
