He sure seems to have issues with AP, constantly trolling threads in this forum and about AP in the main Rolex forum and making snide remarks at every opportunity as he does....perhaps he was bullied by an AP-wearing hooligan as a child?

Also, for someone who hates ceramic, he somehow managed to find love in his heart for the Rolex ceramic bezels (imagine that):

Never had a case crack or a structural/ integrity issue on a watch. Had faded bezel on two omegas. Never had issue w Rolex. I was just curious as to the benefit of a ceramic case and the price point on these would cause a lot of frustration when things go wrong I suspect.

Hmm, so you're unaware that there have been some issues with chipped/cracked ceramic bezels reported in the main Rolex forum?

Also, can you list any thread of reported quality issues with Rolex watches in which you've jumped in and made snarky remarks about Rolex quality?

Glad it's getting repaired with no fault to yourself... No surprises as AP service is top notch. I am a lil surprised it will take 2 months for the new case. Either way, brand new case and new 2 yr warranty coming.

Can only speak from my own experience. Of course, I've never read about any other brands with cracked cases. So I suppose my experience is not unique, at least not on this forum. Good luck to the owner and I suspect it will all work out, with or without further input from either of us. Keep in mind, at the end of the day, these are watches. Not religions. No need to get too zealous or defensive, though I suppose either is your perogative.

Well, when I start to see a pattern, I tend to make observations about it, and you've been in here fairly frequently making remarks of this type, which is neither constructive nor particularly polite.

Also, I've seen reports of Omega (which I believe you own) Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon watches with cracked cases as well in our very own Omega forum, I guess you jumped in on those threads as well and bagged on Omega quality, etc., and referred to them as "Fashion watches, like Michael Kors" as you did with the AP Diver in another thread, or "poor quality" as you've referred to AP in yet another thread?

Omega supposedly makes the hardest ceramic cases out there right now (Same as used on Blancpains new ceramic cases). I love the material, but the material is brittle which is something you always have to keep in mind when handling ceramic watches. Had the 3786 IWC Fleiger which is a great piece, but moved it on because I was afraid of dropping it.. The AP diver in ceramic is nothing short of an amazing piece...

Why a ceramic case anyway? What's the advantage?
My answer is in your quote... Because it looks awesome, is very light and scratch free...

Yep exactly, the brushed/polished finishing is amazing, most brands have maximum 20-30% of the finishing that AP put in their ceramic pieces...

Lol, he never even had the flu this is the first time I have a problem with a watch, but seeing the way it is being treated by AP, would have no problem at all getting some other AP ceramic watch in the future...

Thanks, well yeah it is a little long but in any way I was in Paris, in the plane back to odessa now, so I would not have come back just for this, will get it back in September when I go to Davos for my second incoming PP, getting the first at the end of July, will still try to see if there is no way to get it back by then, but they said mid August, so think I won't...

There is no comparison IMO in AP ceramic finishing and other brands ceramic finishing, always wanted one but could not find one I liked enough, i love the ce diver, amazing piece

Good to hear.
will they issue you a new case number, or it doesn't apply?

Good question, I have no idea, I won't hassle them with questions now, they just said they would take care of it, but when they tell me it's ready I will ask a few, why this happened, what they did exactly to repair it, new case or not, and new case number or old one...

The case will have been replaced – ceramic doesn’t get repaired.

Looking at my APs and other pictures online, I see that the case number (serial number) isn't actually on the case. So you should receive back the same number that's on the removable rear piece.

I think you have a lot of time on your hands, which is great in many respects I suppose. How about this, you buy whatever you like and you contribute to the forum however you see fit? There is nothing wrong with raising questions or making comments and you seem to be alone in your complaints in this regard. These are watches. Not religions.

I've got a better idea: you buy whatever you like, enjoy it, and stop trolling threads about watches you do not like and making snarky remarks about them.

Also, try reading the thread again, I am far from alone in raising objections to your comments in this thread.

Your comments reflect a degree of cognitive dissonance. A cracked case is a serious item on a high end watch. I've expressed nothing but best wishes for the owner. Now I wish you'd find someone else to pick on. This site is not limited to "fan boys". So, what I intend to do is buy what I want. And post what I want, all within the confines of the forum rules. To rest: Enjoy you watches fellas.

Point is, you only do this here. Certainly not in the main Rolex forum nor in the Omega forum, so I guess question would be why you limit your concerns and ire about quality issues soley to the forums of brands of watches you do not happen to own?

This is very interesting observation that I never thought about.
So the number is the "back plate" serial number, nothing to do with the casing at all.

This thread became amusing, it's making me want to grab my ceramic diver but I can't part with my new 5116R, I think it's my favorite for now.

He is trolling the AP forum and therefore a TROLL in my book. I also never understand why trolls go into forums where they clearly have disdain towards the brand and feel the need to make posts. Perhaps they just can't help themselves? Anyway good for calling him out.

Hahah well to be fair when I put my 5960/1A back in the bank safe I saw the diver sitting there in the case. I almost picked it up and wound it but then I knew I had my new 5116R waiting at home to wear and I don't like having two out at once.

All this talk about the case finishing on the diver makes me want to wear it. Even non-WIS can immediately see there is something special about the watch when you wear it out in the wild. I have had people at work comment on it, which has never happened with any Patek I have worn.

Thanks, Ken!

I've never understood the phenemonon myself, I suspect it arises from cognitive dissonance and/or sour grapes.

Yes that is what I have heard as well

Well sure it's a serious thing but seems very rare, first time I hear of a AP ceramic case being cracked without any shock, so a bad product is always possible, the high level of AP finishing compared to all other ceramic watches, makes it possible that a part was fragilized, the important thing IMO is that they're fixing it...

Just in AP forum, over the past several months:

Apologies for OT to others, but this sort of behavior really irks me, even more so the crocodile tears when it's pointed out to him.
Well I had 4 Rolex, and the level of finishing, case and movement, is lightyears away between Rolex and AP, I just find it funny that you could compare them and put them at the same level

All this talk about the case finishing on the diver makes me want to wear it. Even non-WIS can immediately see there is something special about the watch when you wear it out in the wild. I have had people at work comment on it, which has never happened with any Patek I have worn.
Well you like it or not, but an AP ceramic watch is quite amazing, as far as I know there is no other ceramic watch with such level of finishing and brushed/polished surfaces, plus the comfort of such a big watch is just great..

Well sometimes I write a thread on which I don't understand the love for a type or brand of watches, but once I get answers I donsome research and either change my mind or don't but I think that those who constantly bash a brand might be out of jealousy, at least for a part of guys who do, you can not like, but to honestly compare Rolex and AP case finishing and say they are the same level is quite comical...
