We obviously have very different tastes, I cannot stand the DJ2 design (love the DJ 36 and 41 though) so I wouldn't do it, but if it makes you happy, I'm all for it. I think you are kidding yourself that you will only take 1-200 hit, it will be much higher.

Sounds like a GMT would definitely fit your needs. It has a similar appearance to the Sub and would have the date feature you're looking for as well as the option of being able to track multiple time zones while traveling. It's also lighter in weight than the Sub as others have noted and features the same bracelet that you would find on the Datejust II that you're considering.

Go for what you like, don't listen to the hype the got with models. I can not stress that enough, will save you expensive lessons, I now buy what I like and not what everyone thinks or suggests. I went through quite a few subc dates as I kept on telling my self it was the one to buy as it was essentially Rolex. I have a TT version that I love but the SS one just did not click. A few 100 to lose is nothing in the grand watch universe:-) Live and enjoy I love my DJ II I have a TT version.

It's a fab watch you've bought and SS stock is hard to get right now.

I'd consider giving it a bit longer and see if you bond with it. The ND is a stunning watch. I'd personally never trade it for a DJ2.

Good luck either way

1, the weight is something I think you won't notice eventually. 2, not having a date is something that drove me nuts when I had my first Daytona, but then I found I didn't care after a point.

Guess I'm saying you may get used to both "flaws." That said, its a pricey thing to have if it doesn't make you happy.
I went through the exact same thing. When I got the Platona, that was my daily wearer and I really missed the date. However, I got used to it. The weight is something that also grows on you. At the end of the day, you have to get what you like and enjoy wearing.

I think you will miss the sub. Its a great piece, you could get a DJ2 to go with it.
would make a great pair.

Make the flip if you're certain. I've made quicker flips in the past but as you said - you learn a lesson.

An old forum guru on WUS says you should wait 6months before buying a watch, if you still like it then, you'll like it for a long time.

Personally I'd not flip the SubC for a DJII, regardless of the amount of time since purchase of the Sub. I'd consider flipping it for the SubC date, if anything. I love the 36mm DJ, not as wild about the other variants of it. I will say from experience that weight differences in watches is something you will get used to with time.

I always get what appeals to me style-wise at the end of the day. There are many groups of fans for each particular model on this forum. While I respect and enjoy our shared interests in what Rolex makes, I don't base my purchase decisions on what is "the best/most popular" Sub/GMT/DJ etc variant.

Just my two cents

Have you considered the GMT IIc? I may be bias, but it is really comfortable, and gives a similar look, but some people find them to wear more comfortably. Also, I believe the 116710 weighs a little less than the sub. Plus, you get a date!

I would give the Sub C a chance or swap for a
Sub C Date ... I'm not really a DJ fan ... Not that
I don't like them I just prefer the sport model ...
Or swap for GMT 2 C... Lighter I believe and has
date function ...

I traded my DJII white stick dial after only 3 months with it for a GMT II LN. I couldn't of been happier. The DJII wasn't a good fit for me. Lost about 2k though. Which was the bummer.

I have both Sub C date and DJ2 116300. The DJ2 is lighter than the Sub, but still a hefty enough weight to know you're wearing quality.

If doesn't sing to u, definitely should flip it.

It doesn't matter how many people tell u it's a great watch.

No sense having a watch u don't love hoping it will grow on u. Lol

As others suggested, try other models.

I do love my dj2s. Every time I put them on, they feel and look amazing.
(But I feel like that about all my watches when I put them on. Hahahaha)

Thanks for everyone's comments ...

Think I will revisit the GMT ceramic .. And spend a lot more time with the watches on wrist .. I am also mindful that if I take the plung on the DJ2 it will be a far more expensive problem to get out of if I don't get on with it ..

The fact that I can get almost all my money back from the Sub C ( due to the dealer being so understanding ) .. Means that I'm able to change watches without taking a huge hit

Think the Sub no date would be perfect as a second watch for me , but I do find it had to live with at work due to the none date and also it doesn't clear my cuff that well.

+1
The GMTIIc is worth trying on. You will find that it sits closer to the wrist, it feels lighter and has a date. You have to like PCL's, but if you're considering a DJii, we can assume you already do

What about flipping for the sub date? I know you say the weight is an issue, but in all honesty, I can't see a whole lot of difference in wearing a DJ2 and sub both in SS.

If you do flip, my vote would be the blue stick dial. Good luck
⬆️⬆️X2 agreed!
And....I've flipped within 48 hrs

I own a Submariner, date model and a stainless DJ. Both watches are stunning. I will say, I get more compliments with the Submariner than the DJ.

Maybe an adjustment will help with the weight issue on the Submariner. Perhaps the watch is too loose.

Wear the Submariner and see if the watch gets noticed -- I'll bet it does. The non-date Submariner has a cleaner look but my preference in watches are that they must have a date because I rely on the watch keeping track of the date, I'm retired. :-)

Another vote for the GMT here. It's lighter, has the date, and mutiple time zones. The lugs are not as thick as the SubC either.

Did the dealer give you a figure for the watch ? If he's got to sell on as 'pre owned' surprised if just a few £100

Surprised about the weight though ;.)

Good point - the newer 6 digit definitely feel heavier even if in reality there is not much in it!

You know you can move the bezel to reflect the date. Just move the pearl to the corresponding number/date in the morning and you will know the date at a glance without a cyclops....
