Panerai is now releasing a new series of watches (well they always are) but these are now 4 digit watches that begin with a 1xxx. Some of these has snap op case backs with less depth rating. Kind of sad for a brand that is supposed to be the ultimate dive watch. I guess this and other actions (spring bars, no additional straps) are to save costs.
If Panerai looses its credibility as a dive watch than it only becomes a fashion watch and that will not sell IMHO. |

Is it a fade? Buffet styled re-marketing kind of turns me off but I keep looking at Panerai(s) still from time to time :-) |

love all 4 of mine....wear them much more than my daytona.
the new models are beautiful, and if you like them great, if not there are a lot of other watches out there. since i travel almost every week i'm seeing more panerai's, don't know if it's a new 'fad' or a continuance of the love for the brand. just my .02 worth, i'm sure i'm wrong, lol enjoy this pic of my latest, the 662
