The deal is $500-$700 too high in cash.

I would keep the LV, I love the 5 digit case proportions.

However, if you are tired of your LV, and 116610 is really singing to you, why not do the trade (but $1000 cash on top is too much imho)!

Hopefully the 116610 will keep your interest longer than 6-7 years.

Have to agree... as the Anniversary LV is definitely climbing in resale...
For $1000 I'd consider getting a black insert and possibly sourcing a glidelock clasp. The clasp alone is a thing of beauty and is my most favorite part of the subc.

I'd keep the LV with those numbers.

Thanks for all the advice thoughts. Can someone direct me to a seller of black bezel inserts that won't set me back a fortune.

Kevin, my LV starts with an M xxxxx1 so it's got 6 numbers. Does that change anything here? Thanks

I would run the trade past one of the Trusted Sellers here. I believe your numbers will be much closer. I have never liked the 16610LV so it would be easy for me. The new generation of Submariners are great and the glidelock clasp is more than worth the price of admission. Just to complicate things how about a NIB 114060. The Sub ND and what you have been offer in trade might work.

1 William thanks for the input I love the glide lock bracelet. My other watch is Panerai base logo which is a no date watch so I want the date version Sub.

One thing I forgot to mention is that my AD is giving me a 2 year warranty with the watch I'm trading for.

Nope, no way, never would I do that trade. To me you are leaving something that is special, limited, collectable for something that is a dime a dozen. The Porsche example above is perfect in describing this trade, albeit a little more money.

No way. Wait a couple years and if you still feel like making the same trade (your LV for a year-old 116610), by then you won't have to add any cash.

I personally agree with you, but ultimately it's the OPs decision. It's not up to us to know if he will regret it later. He's said it I isn't about the money and more about the comfort and size. I don't see the point of hanging onto a watch that you won't wear.

The 5 and 6 digits refer to the model number of the watches. Your watch model is 16610LV whereas the new SubC is 116610LN for black and 116610LV for the green colored version. It has got nothing to do with your AN serial number. AN = Alpha Numeric

Lastly, in my opinion, I think you should keep your watch. 16610LV is a keeper.

I just wanted to thank the group. I went to look at the Sub C today and I could not bring myself to let go of the LV. I noticed some markings on the crystal that the AD was unable to remove (almost like dust particles but on the crystal not the dial under the crystal) I also noticed that the numbers on the bezels where they are painted on had tiny extra markings of what looked like extra black ceramic or something. To be honest I was not overly impressed not sure if it was this one in particular or what. So I kept onto my Kermit for now

Maybe I am just a little bored of mine after six years who knows but I have big wrists and I love the newer bracelet, ceramic bezel, and the larger appearance of the newer version with the black bezel on my wrist. He will take my LV plus $1,000 for the 116610 with the box and papers etc.

I don't keep up with the values these days and i am trying to make sure this is not a bad deal. The last time I checked the 50th anniversary LV's weren't bringing much more. Also mine is 6 years old and shows normal wear for being that old and the newer one is in much better shape.

Thoughts please

Thanks
i wouldnt do it. keep that lv.

If I source a black insert will the AD put it on the watch for me? I am not even going to try going through that myself.

Would keep the 16610lv. The price on these guys are going up quickly. In a year you could probably get an even trade.

Agree. Keep the LV. It's only going to go up in value and save for the ceramic.

Your LV with paper can worth over $8,000 now if you spend some to make your watch like new.

However, the 116610LN second hand price keeps dropping, you can find a nice 2nd hand one for like $6,500-$7,000.

If you like 6-digit better, from value aspect, you should sell you LV and buy a 2nd hand 116610LN in order to save the $1,000 and even have few hundreds back. The trade just not a good position to you.

116610 is your piece , do the trade and let someone else be happy with a perfect watch.

I wouldn't make that trade but I understand that you feel like a change. going for a black bezel insert is a smart move to test the water. If you decid you really want to change, then given you're in the US, talk to one of ththe TRF trusted sellers.

Good luck

What they don't make anymore, what will be worth more in 20years..... Non of that matters when the OP states "overall I prefer the 116610"

I keep my LV for a reason. But hey, I'm old and stupid. I love wearing it and don't really care. It's sexy and I love it.

Not in a month of Sundays. Keep the LV as it will be the Red Submariner of the future and you will be kicking yourself when you tell your grandchildren that you let it go!
