Rolex Submariners in London Stock and Waiting List
Hi, I am new to the forums and am looking other purchase my first Rolex.
I am after a new steel Submariner with or without the date but I haven't been able to locate one in London. Does anyone know which company tends to replenish their stock quickest or how long the waiting lists are? I could also travel to most areas in the UK if anyone had seen any? Thanks |

Have you asked your AD of choice to order one for you?

I haven't no. I am a complete novice at this game. Everything I know about purchasing a Rolex has come from reading these forums.
I was under the impression they wouldn't be able to order them in, it's simply down to whatever Rolex give them. I will defo be asking them to see what they say. Thanks |

Exactly I spoke to someone at Wempe in London who said they are not taking anymore people on the waiting list because of the stock shortage from Rolex.
Goldsmiths in Lakeside and Mappins in Bluewater said 3-6 month waiting list. |

Yeah, in truth I was saying it was not worth having too much capital tied up when fixed rates were paying 3% so I'm really just always enabling myself. But stock is a big issue here now as well.

If the rumoured price rise occurs on the 1st Sept then maybe we will see stock replenished

If the prices do go up, from your experience what we expect to see as a percentage increase?

It does make you wonder if AD's are holding them back either knowing or thinking that the price rise will happen soon.
That said it seems that the UK does seem to lag behind a lot of other countries when it comes to the SS models in general. |

Is it possible the ADs are holding stock back in anticipation of the price increase?

My theory is either it's as you say or they've simply exhausted their stock from Rolex due to the low prices from a post-Brexit deflated pound. I imagine the situation will normalize after Rolex readjusts their UK MSRPs. I've heard rumours that's meant to happen September 1. I have no firsthand knowledge of this however.

OP, as mentioned ring around all the out of London AD's, as said, you may well find one out of the tourist areas. This is what I had to do back in 2010, when the SubC was announced and I wanted to buy a new old style Sub. None to be had in any of the London dealers, or even outer London, but one of those had a branch in Leeds as well, and they had one up there in stock, which was sent down to the Windsor branch.

I've been looking for a SS sports watch and the only way I managed to beat the waiting list was to buy another, less desirable piece at the same time (for my gf).
If you don't want to wait and it must be from an AD, are there any other watches you want at the same time that might convince an AD to delve into the depths of their safe for you? If not, have you considered preowned? Watchfinder have a good selection of SS Subs. Or even something like this, which offers a slight saving versus new: http://www.miltonaires.com/product/4742 |

I must have been lucky with my non date sub. I rang 6 dealers who were out of stock with massive waiting lists. I then got hold of fraser hart in peterborough and they had one in stock.

You guys should just plan a US long weekend. You'll fly home with whatever you want and have a nice adventure.

If money was no object, fair enough. However, with the weak GBP against the US$ as it is now, that would make no financial sense whatsoever. It would cost a (relative) fortune

It cannot be that bad. I have never purchased from these said AD's but merely been in a couple of times for a browse and a look, but this past week I have been offered a BLNR and a SubC (non date). A Bristol location and a midlands location.
You will get one of you are prepared to drive a little ways for a weekend away. |

He offered me a SubC non date last week. I think one of them is called Aaron (sorry it's terrible I can't remember his name) but he is really good. Young guy with glasses if you are near. If he doesn't have one there, then he will get you one, and he will call you. |

A few years ago the UK was an expensive place to buy compared to say Europe. After 4 years of no rises at all and in the last few months the £ falling from €1.43 to €1.17 and $1.52 to $1.30 it's now a cheap place to buy. In fact is 10% to 15% cheaper Han elsewhere. There has been lots of buyers from the Far East and the US buy here lately, especially because they can claim the vat back which makes it incredibly cheap.
Stock is very scarce, however there is stock, you just have to look hard and make a few phone calls. My local AD had a BLNR last week, someone on another forum phoned dozens of AD's and eventually found a deep sea blue and I read another post where someone contacted all the AD's in London and finally got a sub. The 10% or more rise will get things back to normal, though it may take time. |
