My only regret is that I don't have enough time to give them all the love they deserve.

19 years ago I bought a TT Bluesy. In hindsight, I wish I had purchased a GMT at the time. I was an airline pilot and it would have been more practical. I finally flipped it last year and bought a BLNR.

Peoples' tastes can change/evolve over time (even after and while doing a lot of research). There are so many options as shown on TRF and that makes the journey more complicated for collectors/ enthusiasts. One hopes that one can eventually settle down to what one truly likes but that takes some time and a bit of experimentation. For me--at least.
Should've kept the Pepsi 16710 I had. Never should have bought a rhodium Romans 36mm datejust. |

Give rolex a miss? come one! haha... I typically do tons of research buy it, then say did I really just spend xxxxx on a watch? LOL don't have any regrets because at one time you did want it, as long as you don't take a huge hit who cares? I have taken tons of hits on cars which I tend to get sick of, then miss the hell out of when i sell it, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop buying cars. keep buying and selling, and don't sell the ones you truly fall in love with! also with rolexes they tend to hold their value really well, so your not going to lose too much unless you sell out of desperation. good luck with your future purchases! |

and I don't regret any of my rolex purchases, well my submariner I bought, the ex took it and I can no longer get it back... she hit me where it hurt and took the damn watch, and held my president hostage!!!
i guess you could say I pick the wrong women, not watches. I do however regret buying diamonds, they are a pain in the butt and marked up so high when you sell you will take a HUGE hit. I just took a 25k hit on a diamond i bought when I was younger, no research, and blinded. Watches however i have bought pretty smart, my president makes up for some of my other mistakes I have lost out on, but like you said everyone makes mistakes and as long as you learn from them and come out alive you're good to go and probably will make a few more along the road of life! |

There have been times over the last three years that I have owned my sub that I've thought this money could have been spent on something more appropriate than a watch, even in a savings account.
With that said I feel like if I did sell my sub, I'd first off miss it terribly, and second probably never buy another luxury watch. So, I guess that is a temporary regret that comes around every now and then. With that said, it's just a thought and something I probably won't act on. |

In fact, since buying watches, I've reduced my car purchasing to every two years, which reduces my depreciation hit which more than funds my watches!

I regret buying a YM 16622. As soon as I wore it the first week I realized that it was quite similar to a TAG Heuer and It was desvasting for me. Nevertheless I sold it at a very fair price.

Vince, well what you had intended on being a fun and jolly thread almost turned into something else all together. Some members seem to take offense to flippers almost like we are bad parents to our watches. Im a great parent but Im a PIMP when it comes to watches!! The second a watch is losing its look in my eye or just not doing it for me im looking for its replacement. My loyalties are to family and friends, not watches. I lost plenty of money on flipping watches but that's the fee to play. I wont go past 4 pieces so from here on out its Flipville. So....
1) Slightly regret selling my first (50th Anniv sub) 2) Regret buying the 116520 black dial. I got talked into it bc its THE Daytona. The second I got it it looked like a girls watch on my wrist. NOW, the have the 116520 white and its my favorite!! |

I think this thing is a journey - I've sold a bunch so disagree with Mick but yield clearly I may have rushed to purchase a few. The cost of learning likes and dislikes. Anyways / don't really "regret" any Rolex but I'd say green glass milaguss I probably could have done without. I miss hulk. Also miss BLNR but that was to fund blro so I'm good!

My regrets are more general in nature than a specific watch. I guess if I tried to put it in writing, it would be that when I started my watch journey, I couldn't see what is was I really wanted in my collection and just kind of tore willy nilly through a bunch of watches trying to "find myself" (for lack of a better term).
There is a flip side to all the madness (thankfully)...I've owned just about everything I care to own. Now, I find myself in a good place of having a core group of watches I really love, and the wisdom to add what will be meaningful to me in the long term. If anything. But...give Rolex a miss because i've made some mistakes along the way? Oh hell no. |

I've never had buyers remorse with Rolex or Tudor watches, other watch brands, yes, that's why I only wear Wilsdorf

Not many regrets but anyone that knows me here knows there are lots of flips! One I do regret is flipping a vintage Seadweller Rail Dial that was in excellent shape. All the others could be had again easily if need be...

For me, I see it as passion. I'm passionate about everything in my life, and that includes hobby. Sometimes I make mistakes, but I have good time doing it. And yeah, my family and my friends deserve my loyalty. And they get it. It's that simple. Truth is, I regret almost no watch flips, and I've flipped a lot. I've enjoyed the process. And right now I'm still agonizing over wether or not to flip my DD40 for the same, but a new dial. And I'm having fun with the agony.

That said, I don't necessarily regret it, as I got to experience these watches and know for sure. Sometimes you just have to give it a go. 2) My first Rolex, a 16710 originally in black, but became a coke when I picked up a SeaDweller a few months later. I still kick myself for selling it...it went into a Daytona which was also flipped. |
