bump! Still after some recent feedback on this issue.

Does anyone know if Rolex actually did a total recall from all the ADs from the first batches to fix them up?

If the AD got the watch say within the last 6 months you should be fairly safe or not?

When did these watches start hitting the ADs? Mid 2015?

You have to be careful because I bought mine in September and it had the issue. Worked great initially but after a few weeks started changing late.

I would not let this issue stop one from considering the DD40 because it's a great watch.

From what I can tell Rolex is not officially recognizing this as an issue based on my conversation with my AD and what they heard from the RSC. Basically like oh we will fix yours but never heard of this issue despite reading the contrary here.

Hmmmm Did you sent it back to RSC?

Why are they not recognizing it as an issue? Because the Day and Date still works its just 1.5hrs late?

My thinking is even if you buy one now some of the shops might be carrying old stock. They do produce 1 million watches per year and I think the DD40 is not such as fast seller compared to say their SS line.

So, either bite the bullet and be prepared for a date change a 01:30 or be lucky and you receive a new batch. Knowing my luck I will get the first batches.

And if you get 'first batch', it means your first RSC service is free :)

I don't think they overhaul the entire movement to fix this issue. I heard it was just a few replacement parts.

TBH I'd rather pay for my first service than have this issue.

Yup I bought knowing about the issue and sure enough mine had it. Sent it to the RSC and it's fixed now so I can enjoy the DD40 for a long while.

What they do depends upon when you send it back. If you do it immediately, they will do the needed fix. If you wait a couple of years and the watch needs any readjustments / tune-up, etc. they will do that too. AND a polish if you wish.

May I ask if more recent purchasers are experiencing similar ongoing issues with the new DD40 movement?

It really depends how long a watch has sat in an AD's stock.

Given the issues I had with 2 models in May 2016, my AD spoke to Rolex and they order a brand new watch from Geneva, I took delivery in Oct 2016 and all is OK

Good news then as it seemed to be the only documented and disapointing flaw in what should be an otherwise superior design
