Just looked up the spiderweb theory could be a maybe. Although I haven't noticed it getting any worse over the 8 years I've had it.

The loose diamond theory makes most sense to me. That or maybe the crystal shattered at some point in it's past and a bit of it was dragged by the hands. All guess work. :)

I think if this were a scratch it would be more visible under all lighting conditions where a slight crack or craze is often invisible unless seen from specific angles and light.
