The rules say no knifes. So if it LOOKS like a weapon it is out of bounds? But if it does not look like a weapon it is ok? IE:

THIS ONE OK?

THIS ONE NOT OK?

And just for the record most "kitchen" knifes are WAY more deadly than a pocket knife that LOOKS mean.

Don't press your luck, Jeff. You remind me of the kid who has to touch the just painted bench with the WET PAINT sign on it.

I almost posted a pic of my knifes, I just wanted clarification. This sensitivity (some might say overly) of controversial images is some times confusing.

Just to clarify, I can post my divers knifes and kitchen knifes but not my pocket knifes or any other knife that looks like a weapon? Also, can I post a link to a picture of my weapon knifes, as long as I warn of its nature?

And sorry for the kitchen knife more deadly comment, that was definitely just touching the wet paint.

I guess these objects are common to many of us that we don't even think about it or how offensive it can be to certain populations.

Hey, Hatchet. I know I'm touching the wet paint here; I just can't help it. Does this help the tomatoes at all?

Forgive me, Rockrolex. I know I'm an idiot.

Regarding the Shun knives, are the blades of the different series identical - is the only difference between the series about the handle style or is there a difference regarding the business end of the knife as well. I found that they are sold at Williams Sonoma and I have 2 stores locally. The block sets are priced comparitively with the Henckles.

I've been refraining from comments on how threads like these evolve but now I feel I have to respond. Especially because of the 'pen' remark above.

We are all adults here and furthermore educated adults who are in most case affluent enough to be able to afford expensive watches. Responsible family men with demanding jobs. What I find therefore very, very hard to fathom is that some of you lack the empathy to realise that in a thread about kitchen knives it is unnecessary and even unwanted to all of a sudden show pictures of other knives.

I find it very childish to even begin debating this. As if you really, really don't know that there is something of an issue at all. The proof of this is the pen remark.

Yes, this is a Rolex forum that gives its members a large amount of 'breathing space', some even think too large. But why use this to, again and again start with this, what I think is a little childish behaviour?

You may be proud of your collection of knives and the fact that I like them or not is not the point here. If they are offensive to others could be a point but it is the underlying behaviour that is bothering me. Mainly because this is not the first time.

I do not want to see topics like these in the same category as politics and religion because I hope that we all have the good taste to not introduce those knives and guns every time there seems to be an opening for it.

My last comment on this subject and in this thread:

I NEVER thought of my pocket knife as a weapon until this thread. Yet it is against the rules to post a picture of my knife because it is a weapon by TRF's definition. Weapons on TRF are out of bounds because they lead to too many arguments, I get that, but apparently only weapons that "look mean." Case in point.

I also understand that each forum has the right to be ran as the owner wants. I also understand that TRF has drawn the line at weapons and politics and have chosen to leave out meat, SUV's, Walmart, etc. But when I see a thread of "Lets see your knives please :)" My first thought is of the one in my pocket and it never dawned on me that it is an offensive weapon and a subject for apparent conflict.

To me saying that my knife is indecent for public consumption is the same as me saying your tools (IE CAR, PENS, etc) is also indecent for public consumption because they are both tools and both can cause death if used unresponsively.

Thank you for letting me play in your sandbox, I will not post any more pictures of "weapons" and if I do unknowingly just let me know so I wont do it again. I'll go back to my corner and let the non-violent non-childish men play.

Frans, I agree with you. It is in inappropriate postings that the content of appropriate postings become curtailed.

But humor me for a moment; the title of the thread is Let's see your knives, please. The first sentence says, I was responding to the swiss army knives thread and I thought i'd like to see other peoples collections here and share my kitchen knives with you guys.

You can surely see where someone might get a different idea about the topic? I don't have any weapons knives, but I have a couple of non-kitchen variety I was considering posting until the ruckus began.

You have a point there (no pun intended), Greg!!

Why do these guns and knives threads always end up in a squabble? Why not just strut your stuff and be done with it?

Yes, I have kitchen knives, but I think they are boring as all hell!! Why on earth would I want to show them on a watch forum?

It's Friday morning here and it's also Spring in this part of the world. Let's talk about the birds and the bees!!

I don't want to be the instrument in dragging this discussion along but after you had seen the picture of the kitchen knives and the text that accompanied it, did you still think it was about knives other than kitchen knives? The first three responses were about kitchen knives to make it even more clear I think. But I will step out of this now, I have said enough.
