YG DD 40 is a daily wearer for me. No issues at all.

Looks good. My buddy has that exact same watch, and is beautiful. His one concern is that he can't wear it everywhere because it is so bling.

It looks ok, but would POP if you were darker.

Exactly. It doesn't look bad, but I think silver would fit you better. I have similar skin tone as you do (OP) and silver just pops better for me.

I don't really get the skin tone matching up thing, I have pale-ish skin most of the time but it goes a kind of RG/tan colour in the summer and blends in with my RG watches to become quite under the radar. Sure YG and WG/SS, for that matter, pops more against darker skin but we are no way saying those are the only ones on whom gold looks good. I just buy what looks good and feels good on me, I don't overthink this.

Well that photo was taken in the winter so my arm would have been the palest it ever is. In the summer I go a darker shade so reckon the YG will POP. I have stainless steel for the winter..lol. I also have many years to get a base tan before I am in a position to buy the yg dd40..got to have a end goal though or else you have nothing to work towards.

The DD is classic in YG but due to my super white/sometimes red skin tone, I'd go WG all day.

If we start going gold in summer and ss in winter, we are one stop away from going full TOWIE and pejazzling.

That is a great looking watch.

Looking at GMT 116718 or Sub C 116618 makes me kind of take back everything I've said before in this thread. Solid gold Rolexes are frekkin awesome. However, skin tone is still important, you want to at least be a little bit tanned to make that thing pop.

A 116718 black dial on a jubilee bracelet is most probably my next watch!

same thing happens to me few days ago... but finally choose the YG... + additional datejust similar to WG (minus the presidential) for flying under the radar / daily formal use.. my explorer 1 sometimes a bit boring.. :) for special occassion then i wear the YG day date..

WG is like 9k more than YG.. so i get the YG + steel for a bit more price of WG... best of both worlds...

I've worn a YG DayDate for over 25 years and gotten one comment in all that time. A business friend said "nice watch" at the top of my backswing.

To me, a DayDate in yellow gold, is the ultimate Rolex. I have 2 other Rolex watches, but the gold DayDate is THE Rolex for me.

A Rolex, especially a precious metal Rolex, is a luxury purchase and it should satisfy the buyer and not a bunch of people tapping on keyboards somewhere.

Tanning bed and you're all set!
Joking... skin tone doesn't make a difference to me, that looks good!

It all boils down to preference. I ended up going wg. Love the yg and rg but people WOULD notice at work and am not comfortable wearing it daily. Would rather have one wg watch to enjoy as a daily. Wg is a beautiful metal. And the wg Pepsi is even more awesome. Worn it daily for a bit over 1yr and no regrets.

That's a beautiful photograph. Back in university, I had a full gold Omega watch and everyone taking on me as if I were a celebrity. Years later, I was bored of the watch and sold it. I always wanted to have a DD but I'm no longer keen as I used to

Go to an AD. Try both. See which one looks better on you. Personally I would go yelllow gold on the day date.

I couldnt do any colored gold watch daily, and regardless of whether people say it, I can guarantee they'll notice it. It may matter or not to them...but I'd just keep that in mind. The RG versions are a little more subdued but still absolutely gorgeous...but I went with the WG Green in the end (though mainly due to my color pallet). Either way, can't go wrong with the DD however you choose to do it.

Cheers!

I'm a white metal person, but if yellow is your thing, why not? Women wear crazy engagement rings. Why shouldn't man wear crazy watches?
