You need a metal detector. Could just be under some leaves somewhere. I once lost a signet ring when I was young in a playground. Some 8 years later a friend of mine was showing off his new metal detector. I drew a map of the place I lost the ring and he found it buried in the ground, good as new.

Metal detectors are cheap, Daytona's are not. Hope you find it.

This is horrible, I'm terribly sorry to hear it. Besides telling the police and Rolex, tell all pawn shops and watch stores in the area.

Yep, agree. Not nearly enough but there are a few decent folk left.

Report it to Dibble immediately and fingers crossed, some honest soul will already have handed it in. Good luck.

Alert the police and then call the pawn shops in the area and report it with them.

Yes. Report it to the police. It has a serial number so if it gets turned in and they run the number they'll be able to get it back to you.

WAS IT AN OLD DAYTONA? How could a single screw come loose and the whole watch fall off, especially under your sweater sleeve?

I don't doubt you at all, just trying to understand so I don't run into the same issue. TIA.

Each time I hear of or read stories such as this, I cringe. While likely slim, here's hoping that your watch has been recovered by a forthright individual who - in turn - is trying to locate you. Hope this ends well for you.

That's really good then! I'm sure you've made an informed decision based on what they've told you but just check the small print with the terms.

Mine has actually come close a few times. I always notice it when the screw comes loose; but it has almost come completely out before! Scary stuff, OP I hope you find it!

Why don't you put a toothpick dab's worth of 222MS Loctite on the screw threads?

All good advice above.

Hopefully you kept a note of the serial number. If so, when you are sure it is definitely lost, contact Rolex and inform them of the serial number. If it turns up for a service down the line by an unsuspecting new owner, there is a good chance you will get it back if you can show evidence of prior ownership such as the original receipt or guarantee papers and have the police report to back up your loss.

put a WTB in this and other forums under a different user name for UK and in local CL and Kijiji ads.

it worked for a friend of mine when his wheels got lifted off his car.

you never know...

Very sorry for the OP. Hope it turns up somehow.

On another note, people have posted they hope an honest person finds it. Let's say that happens. Just how in the world would the honest person find the owner of the watch? I'm not exactly sure how I would go about it, but I sure would try to find the owner.
