I posted a picture of me with my Daytona on my 8" plus wrists and a lot were saying it's way too small...this shows that your son is rocking the daytona with very big wrists too...big watches are a fad and a Daytona is timeless quality no matter how big your wrists are.

Awesome idea and congrats on the win!
People get crazy about case backs, but they're easily replaceable. And, I'm sure in this instance neither piece will be flipped anyway.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Maybe you can ask your son what he wants because IMO the engraving alone doesn't help him remembering the event and you as his father.

Engraving the Platona will take some balls, but that would be cool to have matching engravings. You're going to keep the Platona anyway, so go for it. Just make sure they do the initial engraving on a scrap piece of metal for "approval."

Without question I would do it! This is a fitting engraving and you will never be selling these watches either way.

I would engrave the title you won and the date. (Or alternatively the year might look cleaner. )

yeah good idea, my AD recommended a local guy in town who is an artist and free hands it. He said he would do one and let me see it, meaning you guys will see it!

Free hand engraving would be really cool. Nerve wracking until it's done, but cool.

Go for it Tom, a wonderful gesture, and as for resale this is one of the rare cases where a Dr Tom watch I'm sure would fetch a premium.

I'm going to go against the crowd here...

I like the idea of engraving, however, I think you need to buy 2 more watches to commemorate the special occasion.

You already bought those for probably some other event in your life.

I think that would be great. Your watches are full of experience and great memories as you aren't afraid to wear and enjoy. It was a wonderful experience seeing you race and to meet your crew/family. Those watches are meant for family and maybe the occasional try on from a guy like me, so do what will make even more special. Thanks again buddy and I hope to have the chance again.
