LB is wonderful, I think it looks great on everyone!
He can always grow into it as well ( if concerned the watch is ahead of him) |

If that's what he likes, then go for it! Nothing worse than watch envy... buying something you don't truly love and then lusting after that original desire until you can't handle it any more and just wind up flipping or adding...

Not an issue if that is what he wants and it is appreciated and cared for. I would get him a Sub-C ND and start him down the road as a collector. In a few years I would pick up the TT Sub and if he is still into it a bit later a PM Sub. It could be an interesting collection.

If you can afford it, buy and wear it as life is too short. I had Tag's at that age as that is all I could afford.

When I was 20 I wore this LOL
Seriously though sounds like the lad has a head on his shoulders. I say do it, you only live once and if you're not buying it on credit or overextending then FULL SPEED AHEAD. |

I don't like TT but that's got nothing to do with someone's age.
Most posts asking for advice here get a "buy it if you like it, who cares what others think" response. Not sure why that's different because the OP is 20. If you like, can afford it with cash, it then get it. If you can't pay cash get something less expensive, lots of great watches out there, and bank the rest. Or hold off on a watch purchase for now and keep saving until you can pay cash. |

Bought this 16613 20 years ago at 30. Still love wearing it. So, go buy it and rock it!

Depends on how it looks on the wrist. I tried the 116613LB on and couldn't pull off the gold look. Mind you, my experiences with time peices is that many don't pay attention to what's on your wrist. I've only been complimented 3 times max over the course of 5 years of owning a variety of Rolex watches.

I say buy what you like at whatever age you can reasonably afford it. I started with a steel DJ at 27 and just bought an everose DD40 at 33. Zero people have ever commented on either so reality is nobody really cares.

I personally don't like TT or YG but if he likes it then tell him to buy it. If he asked me I would recommend the hulk.

I would stick to the SS sub or SS GMT. Two tone is a little flashy and a little older feeling.

Personally, I'd never judge someone by their watch. Sadly, humanity as a whole is not as enlightened as I am
in my experience, Aussie culture is more sensitive than average to displays of wealth. If you get the watch, you have to be prepared to disregard other people's judgment. And, of course, don't show it off -- unless you're at a TRF meetup |

I was smoking cigars and had a pretty large stash when I was 25 and I looked maybe 20 or younger. Now that I'm 30, I still look like I'm 20 but the bluesy is going to be my next watch.
If I were 20 again I'd probably go with a black subC or a SS GMT. I feel like the TT bluesy is perfect for someone between 30-40 as a gateway watch before a PM piece. But, buy what you like, not what others want you to wear. |

The question is: how did you attain it? Are you comfortable telling people that you worked your ass off to make a lot of money and save and it's an mportant personal milestone to you? I think most people would respect that. Now if someone handed it to you, and you just want to show off, people don't like that.
At 20, in a bluesy, most people will assume the latter. I love the watch, but at 20 I'd opt for something more discrete. |
