And talking about the the HEV it was around 1969 when Doxa introduced the first divers watch equipped with a Helium Release Valve, Doxa was available first to the general public. But its widely believed to have been co-developed by Doxa and Rolex at that time. Now Rolex submitted a prototype patent on 6th November 1967, its thought only around 50 of these double Red 1665s were distributed with patent pending case backs, now these are really rare Rolex watches and command telephone number prices and not like the so called modern day so called rare Rolex. But Rolex did not start to build the Helium Release Valve into their retail dive watches until the Seadweller public release in 1971,two years after the Doxa. So it's widely believed they decided to share the H/Valve patent, just to get the SD into production and for sale to the public . The largest single purchaser of these watches was then COMEX; every diver who works for the company was issued with one, and to prevent the watches from being "misplaced" Rolex print the name of the company on the dial of every watch. COMEX themselves also engrave the rear of the watch with their name and a unique serial number.

I guess the anniversary Sea-Dweller then ought to be expected in 2021. If Rolex decides to launch an anniversary model of the Sea -Dweller. |

2017 also marks my 50 year anniversary of being me. If there is to be an anniversary SD, then I know how I'll be celebrating.

I predict they will add red text and a grey bezel and that sellers will have it listed for at least twice the retail cost

Perhaps 2021 is more appropriate.... Definitely a possibility and certainly something Rolex would do just to throw people people off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It is still a tool watch therefore whatever they do should not compromise the legibility of the dial.
Also, I think! As in the past, there has to be some green on the design to be called an anniversary model ... |

I really feel like nothing will be done for this anniversary, if i was going to pick a design i wanted to see come true it would be a glossy black dial, dark red sea-d on the dial, and a dark red almost burg bezel.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this one... a stainless steel SRSD, rather apt for the Sea-Dweller's 50th birthday, don't you think?

I am thinking that a new dial/bezel color for either the 114060 Sub or 116600 Seadweller will be launched at Basel 2017.
Maybe yellow, orange, white, ??? In recent years, Rolex has used some unexpected colors that we have not seen before. |
