Skeen and I have pm'ed each other and all is good. He's been very gracious and respectful. Just what I'd expect from TRF.

Thank you for this JJ. I was going to start a thread about it until I saw yours. I saw an interesting show where they were interviewing Giuliani and he was drawing inspiration from Winston Churchill's resolve and tenacity during the Nazi bombings to help him in his leadership. Sadly, I only found out about a month ago, that one of my old friends from grade school lost her father on Flight 93. Apparently he was one of the men who was trying to take back the plane.

Worked in the Pentagon that day. Lost friends and a co-worker. Truly horrible day there marked by remarkable heroism. Yes, people running INTO a fire.
Amazing that the weather seems to be almost the same. Kind of eerie.

Prayers are with those in NYC too.

It was fully three months after the event that I finally stopped awakening in the middle of the night with a profound weight upon my soul. And now, seven years later, I am grateful that it has not again happened on American soil, yet aware and saddened that it is not only the United States that has been targeted and attacked.

So thank you, JJ, and everyone else, for your consideration and prayers.

Amen, JJ. Thanks for your thoughtfulness. I remember, that was the day we were laying my mother-in-law down in the cemetery. A tough day indeed.

Very nice gesture JJ!
Being a "new" American, this past event has made me even more appreciative of all the brave men and women that gave their lives in attempt to rescue others.
I salute all firefighters, police officers, military, medical staff and related volunteers in this country! May you have a safe day every day!

This is very classy J.J.

I hope we never forget the pain this caused to so many innocents.

I remember the day thinking the first one (plane going in to the World Trade center) was an accident. Then the second one eerily aimed towards the center and flew in to it, then the Pentagon, then the field in Pennsylvania. I kept watching in horror, especially when the people were jumping from the building. I can't even fathom that choice; to die by fire or chose to jump and die below from so many stories up in the building.

Then the buildings came down in rubble; first one, then the other. This day has lived with me ever since. I cannot comprehend such hatred and madness.

I hope we never forget that this caused such incredible grief and sadness.

Man's inhumanity towards man and amongst our darkest hours.

One of our best friends is a pilot and was flying that very day. I'll never forget his wife unable to get an answer on whether he was safe or not. No information was being given out. Then the call came and we were so happy, but then we started watching TV again and we all started to cry.

R.I.P all of those poor souls, and all my best to every single person affected in the slightest day by these terrible events.
I was twelve the year in 2001, and I remember it happening. I didn't really understand it at the time, but I specifically remember my social teacher telling us that Canada and U.S. would be going to war. I thought she meant with each other, and it was the most terrifying news that I had ever received.

Even at nineteen years old, I find myself growing and learning things every day. I look back on last week or last month and think to myself how much perspective even just a little time gives me. Enjoy watching your kids grow up, being a parent must be one of the most rewarding things one can do

Very thoughtful gesture, JJ. We appreciate it.

In remembrance, we say this prayer.

Almighty God, September 11, 2001 will be indelibly inscribed in our memories.
We looked with horror on the terrorist attacks of September 11th.
But we looked with honor on acts of courage by ordinary people
who sacrificed themselves to prevent further death and destruction.

We shed our tears in a common bond of grief for those we loved and lost.
We journeyed through a dark valley, but your light has led us to a place of hope.
You have turned our grief into determination.
We are resolved to do what is good, and right, and just.

Help us to remember what it means to be Americans—
a people endowed with abundant blessings.
Help us to cherish the freedoms we enjoy and inspire us to stand
with courage, united as one Nation in the midst of any adversity.

Lord, hear this prayer for our Nation. Amen.

When I first see that tragedy in television, and look many people jump from the highest building like that, maybe because the temperature too hot inside the building and they need the fresh air near the window or because anything else, I cry...
I'm not ashame to say that because that tragedy really horror!!! Thousand people die without (maybe) know what happen going on...
7 years...But still in my memory.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Here's one of the memories that we talk about sometimes at work...
September 11, 2001
One of the ladies from the front office comes into the engineering office and announces to the 4 of us that a plane has struck the World Trade Center. Naturally I assumed that it must be a small plane and it was an accident. I kept working.
Later we hear that the plane was a jet and about the other planes and folks start to filter in and out of the conference room to watch the news on the small TV. The news reporters are talking and pictures of the smoking tower are everywhere.
The president of the company walks in and announces that this isn't a coffee break, somebody checks their watch and say's "Yes it is." (Time was 10:05, coffee break is from 10:00-10:10 - whew, lucky) he walks out grumbling.
So all these years later the memory/story remains of him grumbling about the office people captivated by the news as our country is attacked in the worst attack on civilian soil in our history. Luckily I really was there for coffee break.

Joe,

You are quite right with your comments!

My thoughts go out to all civilians and emergency services personnel that perished during this awful event. I was at work and watched it unfold live to air. It was horrifying to say the least.

Without doubt, faced with a similar situation I would've put myself in harms way to try and save others..............

This event took away everyones' innocence..............
