I had a series of faulty DD40s, and was probably the first forum member to draw attention to the dodgy change-over issue. It seems to have affected many watches. Frankly, it is a disgrace, not least because Rolex have never been open about what caused the problem....which is a fault in the new 3255 movement. Customers have every right to demand a quick solution. They were sold faulty goods.
I still buy Rolex....I have a Cellini Dual Time instead . My AD was superb. But Rolex should compensate owners for all the inconvenience caused. I know some customers do not really care if the changeover is at one thirty am because they are asleep. Fair enough, but what happens when you sell a faulty watch? For the record , according to Rolex this watch should change within a few minutes ether side of midnight. Not ninety minutes later. Given the huge cost, there is no excuse. And ADs need to look after customers inconvenienced by this. |

Bothers me, and I don't have a watch that is near that price point. Just imagine the guys that buy PP that are 2-3x that price that go right back to the shop for 6-8 weeks for issues. I would lose my mind. I am sure your AD could have just handled that and not been so descriptive in their methods as to scare you into the rsc again. It is a pretty easy fix. Congratulations on your grail watch. Soon the clasp will be fixed and all will be well. It's not fair to judge a watch brand by one watch. The DD is my grail watch and have had no issues; in fact I own seven Rolex watches, one 40 yrs. old, and have never had a problem with any of them. Best wishes.

I am not so sure I would let the AD do that but again I have no idea how it is fixed. If they are willing to replace the clasp if it breaks then the AD can try.

so the AD cannot remedy the issue without possibly breaking the bracelet. now the watch has to go back to the rolex service center for the second time in 4 months... as peter skinner states "disgraceful." frankly I agree with him.

hey mac218 so your saying your clasp comes open by itself just by wearing it? and it happens numerous times per day?
How tight have you got it on? My DD40 clasp does not feel "that" sturdy as well but it never comes off by itself from wearing it. All the ones I have tried on at the AD feel the same. |

An exchange in my mind would be completely unrealistic as this is a very minor fix and I will add very common thing to happen.

I am sorry that you are having issues with your new DD 40. I have read the date change issues before and understand how you want things to be right for the kind of money you paid for the watch. I only get disappointed when my expectations are not consistent with reality. You are talking about a man made object and a company that produces between 800,000 and a million watches a year. My expectation is that some of these watches will experience problems and that is where the warranty comes in. Rolex stood behind the watch and fixed the date issue. The clasp can be fixed by a competent AD and should not need to go back to Rolex. You purchased a great watch, wear it once it is fixed and enjoy it.

i appreciate all of your comments. thank you. The AD said that Rokex will most likely replace the clasp altogether, which in an all gold model would be pretty pricey. Ill let you know how this works out.

peter, the clasp comes undone on its own 1-2 times per day and over the last few months ive noticed that it takes considerably less and less pressure to unhinge it.

I admit though I've handled a bunch of DD40s and the clasp is not as solid click as you would expect but they dont come undone whilst wearing. That could be a huge problem especially if that happened whilst you were walking on the street or something. |

As far as I'm concerned, this watch costs as much as a car. If it spends more time at a repair shop than with the owner, it needs to be replaced - not repaired. I would be getting my credit card company involved right about now to claim this watch as defective and request a replacement or a full refund. Hopefully you paid with a credit card.

I am acutally considering this option valdi. Thank you. I may give rolex one last chance to make it right as other forum members suggested. We shall see how the AD handles the issue. If i get any "push back" whatsoever, i will return the watch to my AD and seek other ways to recoup the funds. The AD has assured me multiple time s that they will make it right, so this will be the last time. Then i expect multiple years of trouble free ownership. Actually its funny you mention the car scenario. My buddy owns a very nice car and the door wouldnt close properly. He had to sort of "shimmy" the door closed each time. His luxury car has now been back to the shop twice for the same issue.

Id like to hear feedback from other forum members! When you spend money on a rolex, what do you expect from your rollie?
