I do t ride to look cool. I ride to ride and no one sees the watch under my gear. No point in risking it. 2) when you ride LONG distances you don't always stop in safe areas. I had to stop in some really seedy places a LONG way from help in case someone decided they wanted to cause trouble. 3) the low-profile quartz was much more comfortable under riding gear and with wrist flex.

I wouldn't worry about the vibration causing any damage though. Although I do think a long distance ride is a better fit for a beater. (Maybe a Rolex is your beater though... my Rolex cost almost as much as my bike)

I'm going for this one, I felt the need for a chronograph with a 12 hour counter and preferably a tachymeter. One tool to calculate how long it would take me to travel a certain distance and one to make sure I actually make it before nightfall. I don't think I will be carrying a gps, so there's that...

In term of vibration or rough rides, I ride a Harley Davidson so a vibrating motor is just life :)

Tried to attach this pic, has it all except for a tachymeter:

Thanks.

It was a great bike that I had built to my specs down to the last bolt.
