Tudor black bay short rant..
Wow nice looking watch I thought to myself as I browsed there web site. Awesome vintage look. Loved the big crown and gold trim.
Went to look at one in person and its thickness was insane way too fat I was kind of disappointed. Anyone else think it's size disparity is off on the thickness. I also wish it has lug holes I mean they were obviously going vintage look. Why not have holes. |

It's no thicker overall than a Submariner or other Rolex sports watch, it just looks that way because it has a flat caseback, not convex. And the flat caseback makes it sit more comfortably on the wrist. Lug holes would be nice, though.

I'd say a little thick but not excessively so. It's no omega or panerai

The two things that put me off the Black Bay were the slab sided case and the snowflake hands.
The case isn't exactly thick, it just looks that way because of the slab sides and flat case back. It actually sits very well on the wrist. I thought I was going to swap the hands out, but they grew on me. I actually quite like them now. |

Yeah on a trap the thickness is a little pronounced because of the lug hole distance and positioning from the case. Otherwise I think the size is awesome!

I've never noticed it being excessively thick. Similar to the subC I believe.

You have to be precise as to which Black Bay you're talking about. The new one with the in-house is definitely bigger and thicker than the ETA version. For me, the ETA version is perfect.

That's true, I was thinking about the ETA . . . which is also my preference.

Perhaps true but the BB is far more comfortable on the wrist than the 114060; I know from experience. It can the BB can also be had for a third the price.

Those photos posted above are of the older version. The new model is slightly thicker .

I've been considering this watch lately. A shop nearby has both versions. I'm wondering wether to get the older or newer. I'm weighing up between the slimmer case and original face design, or the new movement. Proving to be a tough choice for me. The new case is only slightly thicker.

Haven't tried the in-house yet, but I love the ETA profile and caseback.

There's always going to be a significant segment of Rolex owners/fans/fanboys who consistently put down and disparage Tudor. I've learned to just ignore it. I love Rolex. I love Tudor. I'm just over the watch snobbery though. I just enjoy what I like and you should to.
OP was not being a watch snob btw - just gave his honest opinion, but his post brought this thought to my mind. |

Having owned a Black Bay Bronze I do feel the watch wears quite large and is quite thick. On my thin wrists even my 45mm PAM feels less "bulky". Nonetheless, if you can pull it off, the Black Bay Bronze is a great watch

Should point out that the BBBronze is 43mm versus the other BBs that are 41.

I agree somewhat with the OP.
Maybe not overall any thicker than a SubC for example but having owned both BB red (ETA) & SubC, I can say without doubt the SubC is way more comfortable. (IMHO) . . . It must be dependent on peoples wrist size/shape as I can see other people disagree. The thing I didn't like visually about the BB was the 'Slab sides' as pointed out by someone else. This could give some people (including me) a feeling of unwieldiness whether it actually exists or not in reality. As much as I love the NATOs supplied, I also thought they looked odd against the slab sides & bulk of the case between the lugs. I still love the BB and everything Tudor is doing & it wouldn't put me off buying another if I fancied one. However, it did put me off when choosing between the BB bronze & the Oris Carl Brashear Bronze. The later was much better proportionally. |

The BB is probably the most comfy "big watch" I've ever worn!
