Didn't someone here actually boil and then freeze their Sub? I think I recall that post and even a follow up.

Yes Someone did and here is the link.

I will admit that my wife's DJ (YG and SS) made it through BOTH the washing machine AND dryer (70 minutes in the dryer!)
Came out CLEAN and not a scratch on it! Somehow she left it in a pair of pants when she was bathing the twins and I decided to "help" and do the laundry...the rest is history!
They are TOUGH!!!

I wash all my polymer frames in the sink with Dawn, and a toothbrush. Glocks, P99, and XD's. Brake cleaner is a no no. Too caustic. Shooters Choice makes a polymer safe spray now. All I use it for is to blast the crud out of the striker channels. My duty gun is a P226R in .40, and my BUG a G27.

There was an article on one of the sites about a ladies DJ which went through the washer. It must have come loose from the pocket, it was ALL beat up!!!! The RSC made it all good again except for one scuff.

If you DO put it in the dishwasher, by God you had better use Cascade detergent with "sheeting action" so it doesn't have any streaks on it when it's done.

Prior to my Rolex purchase this weekend, I went to Mayors Jewelers with my brother in law. I had on my Breitling Super Ocean XP plus and my relative had on his 50th anniversary Submariner. The saleman came up to us and asked for both our watches. He said he was going to clean them. I guess he steamed them because when he returned, the watches were still hot!! I don't know if that is good for the watch?

Ok here is thew dumbest thing I ever did to a Tudor Osyter Prince. My friend and fellow diver 9we were about 16 years old) he bought a Doxa dive watch from US divers, he said it was the toughest in the world. I had just bought the udor Oyster PRince and the ads said it was the toughest. here is what we did. We froze the watches in solid blocks of ice for three days. After three days we thawed them out by putting the watches into large pots of boiling water until all the ice was melted, and let them boil for 20 minutes. remember we were just kids.. stupid ones at that My Tudor cost me 180 dollars. The long and the short of it was the Doxa crystal somehow deformed and popped, the Tudor came out sparkling clean, rather hot but none the worse for wear.

Since that time I always bought tudor or rolex. I know it was a dumb thing to do, my dad caught us, gave me a tune up outside after it was all done. I still have the Tudor and have given it to my son with the instruction not to freeze it or boil it

He did not likely steam them, but used Ultra sonic cleaner which is heated. They do a great job and no damage if you have the right hangers in them

Anyway, I'm lazy, I am happy to admit it. I can't be bothered to wash my Rolex. I was wondering, would a Rolex be dish washer safe? Immediate reaction I'm sure would have everybody yelling "Don't do it" I'm sure. But, think through the chemicals, temperatures and pressures - and what do we think, good or bad idea? If it's a bad idea, can you ellaborate why?

If the specific watch matters, I am talking about my TT Daytona.

Thanks :)

Hey, Eddie. Why would you take Hookie to task and not me?

I thought it was funny and rather in line with all the chatter, but if I've gone over the line, someone should speak to me and not to someone else who merely shares my bawdy sense of humor.

I find Rinse Aid works best to avoid streaking. Make sure you use the cutlery basket too!

PS. I left my Motorola cellphone in my pockets, wife put it through the machine for a FULL CYCLE... about 90 minutes. We found it when hanging shorts out to dry. I did NOT turn it on, I put it on the cup-warmer of the espresso coffee machine for a day to fully dry it. Had to put in a new battery, but it worked perfectly afterwards!!! Problem was, it fell into the toilet about a week later... I bought a new phone!

Would you have bought a new Rolex?

BTW, John, I disagree with your signature line. There is no gravity. The Earth sucks.

Hmmm, let me think for a millisecond

I would have reached up to my armpit in a bucket of $hit to retrieve a Rolex

Don't visualise, otherwise you will have a mental JPG that you can't delete, he he!

I put my Plat/SS YM through the dishwasher with the heat dry off. No problem. Prolly won't do it again but I assure you it came out clean and has had no problems since. Now I feel like a brave soul after reading this.

In my defense, as I read even through this thread, there's a lot of fairly iffy material that is... well, iffy. Well one day when I was a young lad shooting gophers on a farmers field, I ran forward to inspect my latest splooged grundenhogg. I ran fast, and broke through some old rotten planks that were ciovering a Sheep $hit pit. Down I went into the pit of eternal stench, My favouriotre remington 788 in 308 now at the bottom. I was only up to mid chest standing up, but the stench was terrible. My buddies were laughing so hard they fell down and soiled themselves (landed in meadow muffins) . I had my Tudor Oyster PRince on (yeop the same one that got froze and boiled). I could feel the rifle at the bottom of the pit with my foot, but combat boots dont have the bendability ya need to fish it out. So I took three great breaths, held my nose and plunged under , reached down and grabbed the rifle and came up for breath. My buddies were still laughing and smelling just as evil as I but less so, and hlped me out. We walked four miles back to the cottage on a dirt road, with a myriad of bugs chasing us . The hot noon day sun baked everything on me, and upon return to the cottage, me, my Rekington, and my Tudor Oyster PRince all took a jump in the lake. It took a week of constant showeres to get the Sheep $hit smelloff me. But the Tudor, it cleaned up well, didnt need to be boiled, and survived more abuse
