Logic is flawed..this wouldn't affect the vintage sea dwellers at all in pricing/sales.

I may be wrong, but why have they not done it in the past?
I don't think Rolex gives a monkey's bum about the Vintage market. They don't make any money of the sale of decades old watches. They care about selling new ones.

Could OP explain why Rolex gives two poops and a water bed about the vintage market?

Exactly. Rolex couldn't care less about the vintage market.

Of course and that made no sense whatsoever. Rolex cares about selling watches not about how much money vintage dealers make in vintage market.

The rendered image of the red-lettered SD4K looks amazing. Aren't there customizing companies that could do that for real to an existing watch?

What they SHOULD do is discontinue the DSSD and put out a 42mm red Seadweller, that would turn the rolex world on its ear...

The 100% confirmed answer

I have consulted a berber soothsayer who consulted some goat entrails and ensures me there WILL be a DRSD anniversary watch.

100% confirmed.

It is for this reason, and this reason only that Goat Entrails are no longer allowed on the betting tables in Vegas!

Goat entrails...? I don't even want to ask how you came up with that image...

How would a touch of red impact the vintage market?

Anyway, the SD won't get special treatment simply because it was just redesigned recently.

The vintage market strengthens the image and name of Rolex as a brand. It adds to the long lasting, timeless appeal Rolex watches have. Rolex certainly takes note of this benefit.

However i seriously doubt a red Sea Dweller or a double red would disturb any balance in the vintage market. After all if Rolex issues a red, it is not reissuing the same watch but a new iteration of a classic. The market of the classic will still be there regardless of whether they issue a red or a fuchsia SD4000.

If they were to do the red on the dial for the SD I would be a buyer. Gives it a cool look.

Basel is at the end of Mar where Rolex show so don't worry you've still got two months of this crazy madness known as Predictivitis to get thru.

It would take more than just some red font for me to buy a watch. I understand the significance, it just doesn't make me an instant buyer.

Not a bad thought except one critical point... Rolex makes no money on the vintage market. They're in the business of selling watches for profit. So if they introduce an updated red SD and can capitalize on the love of vintage then they will.

50/50 guys, could go either way, but i think seeing them do red text on Yachtmaster EvaRose has shown that they do expand into vintage territory....releasing the LHD Pelagos early could be a sign, creating excitement pre Basel....red a distinct possibility...
