If you want something with the features of a submariner with a slimmer/sleeker feel try the yachtmaster on. It is sleeker and far more comfortable than a sub or a GMT. It still has the triplock , rotating bezel and date feature and is made with a number of dial options.

I had my eye on a Sub 5 series for years but, like yourself, preferred the fit of the SMP so I ended up buying a SMP titanium about 10 years ago. It was extremely comfortable and form fitting to the wrist; however, I never could shake the feeling for the Sub. When the SubC came out I was initially put off by the case. After hearing so many rave reviews about the Glidelock clasp I ended up buying one. I cannot overstate how much of an improvement over the SMP bracelet the SubC is for anyone who lives in a hot climate or participates in activities that cause wrist swelling and/or sweating. If I want to go for a run, I simply adjust the SubC bracelet to a snugger position and go. With the SMP, I would have to take the watch off or deal with it slopping around on my wrist. If you can do it - go SubC. That will be $250.00 for my opinion. Us UT grads are not cheap!

always wondered how much it would harm the value if you just harshly polished the "oversized" lugs on the sub till they became more sleek--seems quite a few people love the watch aside from the lugs and would be willing buyers if you got bored of it

Many will say buy what sings to you and you will be happy. So if the Omega did it for you then that's your watch. For me it was the sub c, no questions (especially vs the sea master)... and I must be one in a thousand that actually likes the case on the sub c. I think it gives the watch great wrist presence.

FYI, the SubC is actually 0.5mm slimmer than the Seamaster Diver, if we're talking total watch thickness, caseback to crystal. (Sub is 12.5mm; SMD is 13.0mm). There might be some other aspect of the Omega's design that helps it fit you better. Personally, I'm not a fan of overly thick watches, and I have a slim wrist at 6.25 inches, but the SubC fits me perfectly. YMMV, of course.
Nobody knows when a new Sub might come down the pike, but for what it's worth, the previous SS Sub Date model (the 16610) stuck around for 21 years before the 116610 came along in 2010. We're not even seven years past when the 116610 debuted at Basel, so it could be a while before we see another one. |

Great watch, the Seamaster 300, but if the OP thinks the Sub is thick at 12.5mm, I can't imagine the 15mm Seamaster 300 is going to be more to his liking. |

You must wear it for awhile to really feel the tremendous Engineering that went into the New 6-digit case...

You really can't go wrong with either ceramics. I own the Hulk but I indeed find the Omega 300 ceramic to be a comfortable fit, especially for a smaller wrist (6.5 inches here).
Can't go wrong either way, really. |

Also, maybe buy a preloved SubC. If you decide you don't like it and want to flip, the loss won't be too bad as the initial depreciation hit would have already taken place. |

The Submariner likely isn't going to change. Every one gets sold, regardless of whether you like it or not OP

Once the bracelet is sized, the Sub will disappear on your wrist.
Unless, of course, you have really tiny wrists.
