After egging and gouging both significantly I bought a cobalt ring for daily wear. It has an appearance closer to platinum and is super durable and consistent color throughout regardless of scratching. I keep my wg original and platinum replacement bands in my wife's jewelry box.

White gold with every drop of plating worn off. Every scratch and gouge show everything I've done since the day it was put on. Its warm glow is as comforting as a nice fireside cigar and bourbon with the lady...

I went with a Christian Bauer band in platinum. Love the patina after 12 years.

There are two types of white gold. One type has platinum mixed with the yellow gold and always stays white. The other more common type is yellow gold plated with rhodium and it doesn't last. This band is yellow gold edges with white gold weave, over twenty years, wear it always. The difference other than cost is the availability.

I've got a yellow gold band I wear now. I wear it with my YG DD and Bluesy. The platinum/wg would be to wear with Bluesy and SD4k

Mine is WG...I keep it brushed but it does yellow quite easily. I considered platinum but found a better place to put the extra cash...

Platinum, as a metal will last longer.

Also, many WG wedding bands are rhodium plated to give the white color. (

Note: Rolex does not Rhodium plate their WG.
