My wife has a 26 DJ. She wears ito once a week usually. I kinda like it on her, but I do prefer her larger pieces.

Women are lucky in that they can wear any size they want. My wife recently picked out a 26mm OP. She previously wore a full size G-Shock.
I see many young women with small watches. They are definitely not old lady watches. Open your eyes and look around. |

After years of wearing larger watches, my wife settled for a 26mm DateJust and it's the one watch she never takes off.
My wife and I share the belief that smaller watches look classy and sharp on slender, young ladies although I will agree that women can be so much more experimental being able to pull off stunning good looks with bigger watces.

My wife has no issue wearing 36-38mm fashion watches, but when it comes to Rolex, she is quite clear that 31mm is the perfect size for her. She felt that the 26mm was too small and had no interest at all in the 36mm.
Good thing I asked her before I made the purchase because I assumed that 36mm would have been her preference. |

My wife rocks a 36mm DJ on a jubilee and it's perfect. May get her a 5 digit sub or GMT soon though, and she has 5.5" wrists.

I bought my missus a 26mm DJ 2-tone with diamond dial and she only wears it when i say something about her not wearing it... meanwhile she keeps commandeering my blusesy... 40mm is too big for her in my opinion but she thinks otherwise

Im really loving all of the photos that I've seen of the new DJ 28 so far. I think it's a beautiful size.
I will always find the smaller faced watches as elegant, classic, & a nice size for every occasion. I would never call them old lady like. That's equal to calling the 36+ watches on women more butch like. For the record, I have access to wear both sizes, although I gravitate most to my 31mm at the moment. If you love it, wear it, regardless of the case size :) They're all beautiful in their own ways.

My wife has a 36mm dj and the size looks good on her, not too big not too small. 31mm would work too but depends on the person. She tried on smaller sizes, but they looked to small for her.

IMO the larger, 40ish watch trend for women will wane and it will level out in the 31-34 range. And as stated previously, with the 26", resale would be a problem.

My 40 mm is my go-to daily wearer. I've worn it most days for several years now. Flipped my 29mm YM because it felt too small.

Flipped my wife's 26mm DJ for a 31mm.
She's very petite and whilst the 26mm looked fine on her, the 31mm looks better without looking too large. Got rinsed slightly on the trade, but it was worth it. There's a reason why Rolex have discontinued the 26mm line up. |

The other half wears a Tudor BBR on leather.
26mm isn't an old ladies watch as you need a magnifying glass to read it. |

My wife loves her classic 26mm Date model from 1998.

My wife rotates between 26mm two tone DJ and 31mm SS DJ, and she loves them both, although the 26mm TT may get upgraded to 31mm. I agree the resale isn't so great on the 26mm, but the retail seems to be slightly increasing. Can't ignore the premium demanded on 31mm DJ though. They are comparable, and in some cases priced higher than the 36mm DJ. Go Figure!

For my wife 26mm was out of the question. She thought she wanted 36mm because she watches all those fake reality shows but when we went to try them on she thought 31mm was perfect. Luckily for me she thinks all of my 40mm look ridiculous on her.

The Lady Datejust 26mm was the choice some 8-10 years ago and I was always amazed at how Rolex was able to squeeze the movement in there. My wife has the 26mm 2-tone fluted bezel with jubilee braclet and it looks great. Old Ladies watch might be a bit severe. However the trend to larger ladies watches is the new flavor. The full size professional/sports watches are quite popular as you know. In another 10 years maybe smaller will be back in again, so it goes in fashion. Don't think guys will be wearing little watches ever...Ha! Cheers!

My wife has 3 jewelry items that never come off. Diamond studs, platinum/diamond tennis bracelet, and 26mm Rolex. She's definitely not an old lady.

Yeah old school. Women want 36-40mm which makes sense. Who says size doesn't matter?

Big watches make wrists look small, which is why women like big watches. Usually women who love big watches are "big boned" because of this optical illusion. Small watches look horrible on "big boned" women, like their wrists are swollen or something. Small women can rock a 26 and make it look awesome, sexy and feminine. My wife is petite with 5 inch wrists and rocks a 26 DJ but also has a Tudor black bay 36 and looks great with both. My sub on the other hand looks ridiculous on her. Anyway, the big watch will not die unless women in general become less "big boned", which currently the opposite is happening. I guess that is why small watches are old school.

All respect to Mick P, but I'm not boring. I wear a lot of 38-42mm watches, it is true, but I've really fallen for the 31mm bubble backs: they are very comfortable and look quite masculine because, well, they are men's watches. I have nothing to prove: I'll wear the 55mm B-Uhr sometimes, and sometimes the bubble back. The modern world allows us a spectrum of choices. I strongly recommend that all you confirmed "I'd-never-wear-under-40mm" guys would someday try on one of the little Pateks from the 1950s or 60s: they feel great, and look great, and continue to hold value very well because they are just great, satisfying watches, and size is just a thing.

My Wife is tiny and she wears her 26mm more than her 36mm. Both look great though.

My wife has a 26mm Datejust, 28mm Yachtmaster, and 31mm Datejust. Tonight she decided to wear the 26mm. She likes all three sizes for the different looks and occasions to wear.

A 26 DJ is the Chanel No. 5 of Rolexes. And by that I mean it's a classic. That means women of all ages appreciate it, so you'll find it on some old ladies, but also on some young ones. It's timeless.
I would bet the larger sizes are more commonly seen on younger folks, but who knows how long that trend will continue. My wife has a 26, looks fine qon her, she's thinking about a 31. My 36 DJ she claims is too big. I think it looks great on her, but my opinion isn't worth the air I used to make it.... |

Are Ladies Size 26mm Rolex Watches old school?
Yes. IMHO... However, like bellbottom pants, jean jackets, etc. they might make a come back. We dumped the 26mm Rolexes in our family and went 31mm.
