Cancel your PP order right away. The "list" is total BS. and they will give you any excuse they want. Rolex has no policy. In my area I'm on the "list" and have been told this chain AD isn't getting a lot of them even though my friend was offered a black for a 2K finders fee when he visited. He wasn't on the "list" but had previously bought from them. Is this a a Rolex policy too? Ha.

Remove your business from that business and unrefer friends and family too it's only way he'll learn and tell him so too by email - at least get some satisfaction.
He can sell to whoever he wishes ofcourse it's his watches and his business but still withdraw yours.

Not only could Rolex facilitate some form of queue system, they could actually end all the hype and drama if they so chose, in a matter of months or less by simply running up production and supply of the DaytonaC - this a company that reportedly produces some 10,000 watches per week. This would be a relatively easy fix for them. They must be well aware that some Daytonas are now going for nearly twice the RRP, so it would not appear to be a big concern for them!

Rolex couldn't care less that people have to wait maybe 10years for a Daytona - any other company would ramp up supply to meet demand it makes business sense to do that it's not as if they can't how dumb can you get, dumb as us for allowing the hype to happen in first place two dummies

Demand for the DaytonaC wouldn't be as high if they were easy to come by. You always want what you can't have or can't have easily.

After returning from the Virgin Islands, the idea of "only being able to sell to locals" is RIDICULOUS.

There are plenty of ADs there, willing to sell you a watch duty-free. 10% off any model you want!

This is balls honestly.

I know for a fact that official Rolex ADs in London are selling direct to grey dealers knowing full well they are grey dealers and prob taking back handers as well.

I was next on the list for BLNR as WOS Regent Street next thing I know a grey dealer is Instagramming with Geo Location on while he is still IN THE STORE advertising it for sale, absolute joke.

The owner of the shop "buying" your watch is what would anger me the most.

Now he or she gets to wear it and then presumably, due to high demand, sell it at or above MSRP - basically wearing your watch for free.

If the store has admitted one of the owners bumped in line and got your watch it sounds like a fair reason to cancel the order for the Patek. I think even the employees of the store would understand that as the Daytona incident took away their sale.

Lists are meaningless. AD's will take care of their best customers first regardless if you are first on the waiting list or not. Wait your turn or pay the premium.

Take your money elsewhere unless he can offer you the next one that comes in. Sorry to hear dealers losing common ethics over a simple watch.

All this talk of "list" and "fairness" are moot. The AD will sell the DaytonaC to a) the highest bidder out the back door or b) their highest volume customer. End of story. If we don't like it we should "vote with our dollars".

I have been an out of town buyer my whole life and never had an issue. I would end my relationship with the AD.

Really poor AD...send a copy of the initial email saying your first to rolex and write a letter. Then take your business elsewhere.

I would cancel the PP order and get any deposit back. I would explain it to him that you have done business with him for a number of years when you could have gone elsewhere. However, the notion that Rolex controls who he sells to is difficult to believe. Tell him you were fine that he couldn't get you a ceramic Daytona, but not with his made up reasoning - in short he lied. Call him on it. Be polite and then leave.

The problem with that is that if it's a desirable model, they won't give a damn and it will still be sold in no time.
I'd stay on the list and look to get one elsewhere. The only person losing here is the buyer. You need a new AD, but if you're already getting close to purchase time there's no sense burning that bridge now. Though if you complained loudly enough, they probably already bumped you anyway.

Let the PP be your last watch from this AD. You buy enough and spend enough to where the owner should not have taken your watch. Fact is, as an AD he can probably get a Daytona for himself pretty easily. Think about where else this could fly. Even if it's true he shouldn't have told you that he kept your watch.

If you want this watch it costs a premium. Either have a relationship which is worth one with an AD or buy it grey.

Since you reside in an affluent area, I am going to assume you can afford to pay a few grand over msrp. Give DavidSW a call and have the watch on your wrist the next day. Forget the drama of dealing with AD head games, IMO

Piling on here, but have to agree with all the posts above. Trust your instincts --- and take your business elsewhere. If you can shop the PP, then I would certainly place that order with a new AD that you want to start doing business with and will reward your loyalty. I think the various factors weigh against them. They said you were first, you have email confirmation, and when you spoke with them recently, their responses were not convincing.

Unfortunately, maybe the lesson learned here is to get on as many waitlists as possible.

Note: I've also dealt with DavidSW and he's great.

An AD can allocate watches based on "first come first served" basis or based upon who brings them the most profit. ADs run a business and no one can fault them for allocating DaytonaC watches to those who bring them the most profit.

Did the AD mislead the OP? It seems like they did. But it is not as if they held on to your deposit for the past year. It was just a name on the "list", whether it was a real list or fictional. Life is short and I would just move on.

For the small AD, the watch business is their lifeline and the business is likely the main source of income for the owner. For most of us on the forum, watches are just a hobby and it does not make or break our lives.

This is exactly what I would do.

1) Cancel PP order.
2) Tell the AD he is fired.
3) Pony up and pay the premium for the 500. Get with a trusted seller and just do it. With alll the watches you've mentioned, you can afford the premium. You could be wearing one this weekend.....
