Well, if you want a nice, cheery airport restroom, come to MSP (Minneapolis-St.Paul). We have the best public restrooms around, according to this. (Not all of them have been upgraded to this level yet).

I'd like to think so. If this is a potentially controversial issue, why not simply have singular restrooms (as in small restaurants, laundromats etc.) where folks can use them privately? Try explaining this social aberration to a young child whom you have to accompany to a restroom facility.

I spend exactly zero time looking at other people in the restroom. Unless you feel a need to commiserate with the person next to you (which is wholly weird), why would you give a hoot about their anatomy?

The restrooms are one thing and generally not very sanitary, but when was the last time you saw them clean and sanitize the interior of an airplane?
The tray on the aircraft rarely gets cleaned. I read a study that said the seat back trays had higher bacteria counts than the toilets. Wet wipe the tray before you touch it.

Missed the shooter ? That was like 2 months this ago. I was there 2 days ago.

I was going to take the train from Cypress Station just to see how efficient it was but realized I had to grab a bus from Dania Point to the airport. I can't deal with transfer buses

Most airports are horrible as are the planes. Never seen a steward/ess clean up anything. Must admit that Schiphol is usually clean and provides seat cleaner and paper towels. No doors to touch on your way out.
No idea why anyone would deliberately make a mess, very strange

I'm not checking out their anatomy. Just basically aware of who's also in there at the same time. If privacy, gender and appearances are immaterial, why not simply have one huge restroom for all?

It really is shocking at how disgusting human beings really are. We call ourselves civilized, but any public bathroom (womens included) will likely display otherwise.

That was what I was getting at and try to never use the big bathrooms just the little private ones.

I Always have those alcohol wipes in my backpack and never go into those back seat pouches. Full of used Kleenex

So... Which would you rather, the obvious hazard of the nasty restroom, or the stealth hazard on the plane?

Exactly, you can see the nasty bathroom and take precaution, but once at 30K feet you do not have much in the way of avoiding the flying germ fortresses. Not just the trays but the seats, magazines and everything in the general area.

Perfect timing....I have a flight at 5:45 AM tomorrow morning I am sure I will be extra weird tomorrow on the flight May sport a hazmat suit.

I'd rather the stewardess not clean bathrooms lol that'll be like a waiter serving your salad and ice tea after moping the bathroom floor. No thanks Gross

Speaking of Atlanta, anyone remember the urinal troughs at the old Fulton County Stadium?

One would basically belly-up to the trough and take a semi-public whiz.

I remember a guy next to me remarking, "Now, I remember why I should have worn long pants instead of shorts." The splatter was pretty bad!

No stealth, I'm always in germ counter intelligence mode in planes and airports.

I know what I'm in for with the bathroom and I never go into back of seat pockets, the bathrooms in first class/ business have less people using them in all reality but first class people can be gross too.

Keep the separation curtain closed I say

Whatever good luck to everyone

Those urinal style troughs are still in existence at the Oakland Coliseum (one of the last of the old concrete/steel 'toilet bowl' shaped stadiums).

It's still like that in Buffalo.

Food nor drink do I take prior to flight. A little water in flight. Usually it is a direct flight. No exposure to the bathrooms.

I did (in fact) have to visit the Atlanta mens room earlier this month when I could not avoid a connecting flight. While my senses were dulled, I remember skipping the hand rinse and exiting ASAP.

not too bad in the UK however the amount of people even fashionably / business attired people who head straight for the exit without washing their hands makes me want to refuse to shake hands with anyone ever again

edit: and would make me think twice before buying a watch from an airport

ATL is a dump and their bathrooms are about as clean as any college bar bathroom.

With exception. airport bathrooms are generally cleaner than most public restrooms IMO
