I would say no....patience is a virtue! They may never be as easy as a Datejust to get your hands on but the scarcity now is Rolex related not Zenith related. The prices will come back to earth as they have done with the GMT2 BLNR.

Supply will catch up to demand and the price will drop. I don't think I could wear the watch without being reminded of how badly I was taken. I have enough art and antiques hidden away in my attic because there is little joy in being reminded of a foolish impulse purchase.

Hell no i would never pay over msrp for anything. I rather donate to help people and animals in need with that $5k instead.

Have to agree but some go crazy for what in the real world is just a cosmetically changed 116520 but each to there own.

Since the zenith version has been released, I do not believe there has ever (exceptions to every rule) been the simple option of walking into the AD and saying I'll take the stainless Daytona. While the future may improve things the hassle of acquiring one will remain.

Would agree but there are hundreds of Daytona C for sale on the grey market,as quite a large proportion bought from any AD are flipped to the grey market for profit. Its basically been the same since the introduction of the Daytona with the Cal 4130 way back in 2000.

I don't pay retail for any luxury item. Paying retail is like flunking a intelligence test to me. You can always find a like new on the gray market.

Buying preowned in a year or so would probably be best route (if you can wait).

If you really want it yes 12,400 plus tax so you are actually paying like 2,500 more

I have been waiting for almost 1 year for mine so if you are thinking about getting one now, I don't think there is no choice but to pay a premium or wait for a long time for one. I don't think you can walk into any AD or buy it used today at MSRP so it depends on the individual if they are willing to pay a premium for it. The reality is supply and demand and how badly do you really want the 116500.

That amounts to a 20% tax. Is that a VAT amount you referenced?

Me too. Was 7th and now am 5th. Two delivered in a year's time. Paying over list for a non-limited production model makes no sense for me (despite the math I provided earlier).

If I extrapolate in a directionally correct manner, my estimate is 5,000 were shipped thus far. And in the next few years that much or more will be made per year.

The 116520 lasted 16 years and the 116500 will carry on for at lease 10 more methinks.

It's not. Not in my opinion. It's not a difficult watch to obtain. You may have to wait; but it's not that hard.

I have two. Seriously they're sorta underwhelming. I find myself wearing my subs a lot more. But that's just me. They have their place in the collection.

If you want it and will keep it basically forever then yes. If you tend to sell watches relatively quickly then no as you will lose money. Prices have only one way to go if you pay that price.

I'm not a Daytona lover, so to me retail is way more than I would pay.

No - nor pay a premium for any watch.

Let the 'line of people' fight over it.

In terms of value, you can probably flip it for 13 or 14 grand but I'm not sure about $17K
I've never seen a Daytona-C, white or black, sell for $13K-$14K on the secondary market. Closer to $15K-$16500, more for stickered watches.

I agree with everyone else. I would not pay $5k over retail. Especially from an AD.
