Much prefer the DSSD, but if you can afford to keep the GMT then probably best to do so.

Keep and save is the best bet but I understand the frugal mentality. Many times when I buy a new watch I contemplate flipping one of my others despite knowing it won't hurt me financially. I've learned to hold on to what I've got and am still reacquiring some that I've let go. Good luck!!

No chance in hell I would consider this. I going the Pepsi gets with the previous case the most attractive Rolex model ever!

Don't do it...I think you would regret flipping the 16710.

The fact that you've had your GMT from new and for so many years now I just think it would be a real shame if you had to let it go.
If it were me in your position and any watches needed to go to fund the DSSD I would trade one of the watches you'd purchased recently as I'm sure you wont have as much emotional attachment to them. If you did trade one of your more recent purchases and later regretted it, you could always find another quite easily. The GMT however you will never replace. Yes you can find another GMT - but it wouldn't be YOUR GMT - it wouldn't feel the same. |

It all depends on how you feel about the GMT. If it is truly a special watch to you and you would only flip to make the money work then I would not do it. If that special feeling is not there then by all means move on and don't look back. I have owned several DSSD's and I think that they are great watches. I only moved away based on trade value and at the time I needed the cash on another watch that I wanted. Both times. I am somewhat back in the hunt, at least looking. I like the DSSD Blue but find it hard to pay a 3-4K premium just for the dial. I know the psychology behind getting what you want and being satisfied but that much money on a dial does not work for me right now. Look at a pre-owned with the black face, a nice example can be had for around 8K as opposed to 11K pre-owned on the DSSD Blue.

I agree with most others, I would definitely keep the GMT as it has sentimental value. I bought my 16710 in 2002, my son's birth year, and will never sell that watch. I am considering swapping the black for the Pepsi bezel too.
I would keep the GMT and save up to add the DSSD later.

Find a way to have them both.
My "A" serial 16700 is my daily work watch. But when i'm not at work, all i wear us my D-Blue. Love them both!!

Will an expert please look at six marker on OP's pic? It simply says "Swiss" ... I have never seen this on any GMT dial
But I am far from any expert |

This is a tough one. I see both sides, though most say keep and add. To anyone who flipped their first and then reacquired, was your feelings toward the new watch the same as before or was it gone because it was not 'your' watch?

Yup. This is the best advice. Black and SS is a classic Rolex diver look. The DSSD is simply not a classic Rolex diver. The extreme size, thick crystal and blue dial are all part of its "cult" appeal. Buy the blue. Sure, if you love big watches but hate blue or hate the hype the DSSD Black might be "the one" for you, but the SS SD and the SS Sub will always be the real classic divers Rolex only makes one blue to black gradient dial. Ta-Da! This dial is now the signature of the DSSD. If this is your one true "next 20 years" watch you will pay the premium and immediately forget about it. The DSSD Blue is that good. No, i would keep the GMT...and save for the black DSSD.
To me , classier and classic..:)\ although the Blue DSSD is very nice, I like the Cameron DSSD black one better
