I would also suggest sending it in for service. However, before you do, get a toothbrush and do some cleaning. The bracelet looks filthy and you want them to think you take care of the watch and this was just a freak happening.

I heard of it from a hardcore WIS Daytona owner fans before but never seen it....

Rolex should put a warning label on their owner manual.....

The reason for that is.....

NEVER reset the chronograph while the chronograph is still running....

Stop the chronograph first then you could reset it.......

Better to be safe than sorry.....

Hope this information & advice help....

OK, everyone will be pleased to know that after a long day of work and pondering the causes of this between work crises, I have my assessment. You can breath if you so choose.

While the victim.. er watch wearer .. was upon said helicopter, wearing ski boots and donning ski poles, a magnetic force was created from the spinning carbon fiber blades of the helicopter of a vast magnitude acted upon the ferrous gold Chrono needle of the watch.... thusly bending.

Are you just messing with us, and you got this from a digital camera rolling shutter issue?

In all seriousness, I'm having a hard time coming up with why it is bent that way.

Yes, but that one's bent the other direction, which makes more sense, no?.

There was a situation with a brand new BLNR where the GMT hand was bent in a manner similar to this. Lots of disbelief and calling the OP a troll, and yet it truly did happen. I should go find the post....

My Assertion: Metal Fatigue due to the cumulative force upon reset.
I never thought I'd wake up in a world where Sam has the most sensible post in a thread, but it seems I have. There's a reason they make that stopwatch hand out of something stronger than white gold. In this case it seems to have succumbed to the natural forces of resetting. Which is why I asked my question in post #2.

OP hasn't been back since posting, though, so it could all be a hoax.

Anybody noticed the bezel not lining up!

Well at least when I compare it to mine, something is fishy!

60 and 120 should be bang on 12 and 6, 240 on 3!

If the hand wasn't bent, it looks like the tip should be over lapping the crown at 12:00. So wouldn't the pixels there look altered if it was photoshopped?

Hello everyone... thanks for all the responses! some were quite enjoyable to read!
To answer some of your comments...
• I promise the original picture was not photoshopped; I've taken another picture of the watch (and I cleaned it using a toothbrush, thanks for the suggestion!)
• It wasn't a helicopter to a ski trip as much as I wish it were... it was a regular transatlantic flight, and I flew coach... nothing bougie about that, haha!
• I saw the post about the AP watch while Googling what could have possibly caused the needle to bend, and didn't find any answers, hence the reason why I posted.
• Interesting someone pointed out that the bevel doesn't appear to be straight on the 12 and 6... never noticed that before but when I bring it in for servicing I will definitely point that out!
• I use the chronograph occasionally... a few times a month or so, and always make sure to stop it before resetting it. Also, the chronograph still works perfectly fine despite the two-second needle deviation. In fact, that is how I first noticed this issue... stopped timing something, pressed reset and noticed that when it reset the needle did not go to the 12 o'clock position... did this a couple more times before realizing the tail of the needle was reset correctly and there was, in fact, a bend in the actual hand.
• OP (I) haven't been back posting because I thought I enrolled in e-mail notifications but apparently I did not since I did not get any e-mails.

Looking forward to hearing your responses! FYI I won't be sending it in for servicing until I return home in mid April, but hopefully I can come with some thoughts from the Rolex community!

also in case anyone STILL thinks that it's photoshopped or whatever... i've ran the stopwatch a bit so that the words under the crown are completely visible now... no troll here!

New development! after my last posts, I let the timer run instead of stopping and resetting it before it made one full revolution... it appears the chronograph has stopped running just before the 12 o'clock position (which is when I presume the smaller face on the R would advance to 1 minute), and the reset button cannot be depressed as if to reset the stop watch. Any thoughts? It's gotta be something jammed inside, right?

I take it that the Daytona is heading in for repair. Let us know how it all works out. Hard to imagine the force it took to bend the second timing hand. It would have had to contact one of the other hands. Good luck with the repair.

If this was really caused by the resetting of the chronograph that is a little upsetting to say the least. I would think it would be mentioned more than sparingly 'round these parts. I'm assuming there is nothing on the dial you can see that is unset or potentially catching the needle... Really hope it works out. Pics and details appreciated

what does "hacking the movement" mean? is that the same as "pull the crown" as in, stop the watch and stop wearing it? it still keeps time fine...
to answer the other questions, this was not gradual, it was all of a sudden. and i imagine it either happened when resetting the chronograph or while it was actually running it got caught just before passing the minute mark because, like I just saw, it stopped before reaching 1 minute.
