I tried on the green Sub at the recommendation of my AD friend. One look and I knew absolutely that I didn't like the watch. Guess I'm just not a green person. I don't have a single item of green clothing.

I do have the BLNR and think it and the yellow gold DayDate are the two most striking watches in the Rolex line up. I have been on the verge of adding a black SubC Date for about a year, but just cannot seem to pull the trigger.

So, only based on my personal preferences, I'd suggest keeping the black Sub.

I have both black and green. I love the iconic Sub but I have to admit, the LVC is icon meets an extra dose of special. Good luck and enjoy whichever you decide to go with.

If you're waffling between the two, I would go with Black.

Seems like people that were kind of on the fence about LVc but buy it anyway tend to get sick of it. You have to absolutely love it.

The Black Sub is boring.

Go with the Green Sub. With the amazing sunburst dial, you will never get tired looking at it.

It is hard to argue with the LV...it is just so unique and the dial is mesmerizing!

Yes but so is the black

Classic

And goes with everything

And under the sun it looks dark blue

But really get both

I own both. As much as I love my Hulk and it gets more wrist time, I would never have the Hulk over the black one.

I have both and I wear the black more it's just so classic and versatile. I love the green sunburst dial but green is far from my favorite color. My black sub and BLNR get worn the most.

I wouldn't sell your black sub and get the Hulk, I did and I immediately had to buy the black back to go with it. I would keep your sub and save up for the hulk

If green is your favorite color then by all means go for it it's beautiful

If it's going to be your only sub, stick with the black one. It's too classic to pass up and fits in more occasions than the green.
I'd say go for the green only if you don't have to sell your black to get it.

I went with the LV, but already had a black dial GMT.

Wow, if that was my signature...

I would sell the LN, LV and 116613 LB and buy a 116618 Gold Sunburst or 116619 Smurf!

Sorry OT, but I just had to say it...lol

If this is your only piece, keep the black sub date. It's far more versatile and as your only piece you really would be limiting yourself with the hulk. Imagine the hulk with a grey or brown suit...ew. Imagine the black sub with any suit...just fine.

I mean obviously there are more things to consider than versatility, but that matters a lot to me. Personally I would save for the hulk I think it's a fabulous watch and would make a great second piece if you like it that much.

Decided

Thanks for all your responses, although it did confuse me even more I appreciate it :). I decided to stick with the black for now. I was not 100% sure so did not go ahead with the swap. But green is my favourite colour and it is an amazing watch so I will definitely be looking to add n the future.

Here is a shot of the watch this morning on the way to work :)

Had both 116610LN and 116610LV. I gave the LN to my Dad and kept the LV for myself.

The green sunburst dial makes the LVC for me. Goes from dark green (almost black) to bright green, depending on how the light reflects off of it. For me, the LVC had more character because of this.

I might consider acquiring a 114060 down the track to replace the LN, because it's different enough to the LVC without the date window and it has the symmetrical dial. The lack of date helps when you're rotating watches, so you don't have to reset the date each time you put it back on.

I also like the history associated with the 114060, as the no date Sub is the original Sub and a real WIS watch.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

I think the green goes great with most things other than green. My brother has had one for the last 2 years. He wears it every day, and it looks great in all situations. It wears great with browns, blues, blacks and greys. I think matching it with greens isn't necessary. The sunburst dial is striking and for the most part, in most situations the green looks pretty dark. Don't be scared off by the naysayers.

As others have already said...

If it's your one and only then definitely black however if it's part of a collection then the green dial is IMO the nicest dial that Rolex make however it needs to be seen in person to be fully appreciated!
