I do think they will go up in value... no way to know for sure but with the shortest lifespan of any modern day rolex that I know of plus the fact that the new one is bigger, has cyclops and loses its original look I really feel it may become a cult watch years from now.
That being said... where can I find one? LOL

If they drop, I would have no problem picking one up. Easily one of my favorite tool watches.

These are going up for sure.
Matte dial and trimmed up lugs with no cyclops = instant classic

The fact that it was a 2-3 year run too will have people fighting for them in a few years time. It's one of those watches everyone wanted, but didn't want to spend the extra $$$ over the 116610. Now people will be kicking themselves for not getting it.

Called a few dealers I do business with and found out that most of them are sold out of it...can it still even be ordered? Meaning does Rolex have any in stock still?

TBH I'm surprised at their restraint, thought these chancers would also be requesting to sleep with our daughters on their wedding day.

I picked my SD4K March last year second hand unworn for £5850! This seems like an absolute steal now especially when you have no date Submariners selling second hand for nearly the same price! I wonder how the demand will be for this model now! It should become a cult classic.

It was underperforming model, so who knows....people didn't buy the Paul Newman Daytona when it was new either...
I'll likely invest my money elsewhere

Add a limited production run of 3 years and.....

This forum predicted the 116520 would depreciate in value in the aftermath of Baselworld 2016.
I agree. This makes a watch that is already special to me even more special and it's completely ruled out my ever selling it. This will be a nice piece to leave the kids after I'm gone.

Speculative values is an unknown quantity, I just try to enjoy the watches that I acquire.
I don't know what will happen with prices and but my 116600 is staying with me for now.
I may just get its 50th anniversary brother to rotate with him; as despite the blowback from the cyclops, the 126600 is quite handsome.

Great watch. Would say unlikely to jump in value in short term, would be a bit of an anomaly.

I think this market is now contrived and cynical, not organic like say the Newman, so with so much knowledge on the internet there won't be many suckers out there and so I don't think this will be anything special.

I love my SD4k, but still wish I had my old one as well.

I will buy the new one in a few years for the hell of it.

People might be buying them up now thinking it'll go up in value cuz it was a short run and the new sd has a cyclops blah blah but truth is once the new sd starts hitting stores there will be many sd4k up for sale. There just was no demand to start with and don't see it being sought after in the future either. Great watch and will probably keep current value but skyrocket? I just don't see it.

Now I have a chance to pick up the last SD 4k in my whole country for $10k now (after 5% discount). There are only 3-4 ADs in my country, so I do believe that it's the last BNIB piece.
What do you guys think? Should I grab it or pass?
I'm pretty curious about its future value in short-term (2-3 years) and a bit longer term (5-10 years) when it'll be NOS.

value won't matter at all until at least 3 years later.
