I'd be shocked if it was an easy switch. White gold clasp alone must be pricey. And why would you want mixed metals (clasp wg / ss 116500). I'd think the attachment inside the clasp is different than the one supplied on the wg panda. I don't know these details but when has Rolex ever made such moves easy or price effective

Yes, I think I read here the OF can be put on all the ceramic gold models including the old leather ones, but doubt it can be put on the SS ones, plus the clasp will be a different metal.

Love the white gold and the black rubber bracelet makes it pop. Wonder how this bracelet compares to the rubber on a Patek 5167?

I voted pass because I truly like the SS white dial 116500.

A dive style strap seems so out of place to me.

None of them

You can buy a Daytona in ss and put on an Everest rubber or leather strap easily enough. The movement is exactly the same and you've saved yourself thousands to spend on another watch you want.

I voted YG and I will probably pick one up (but let's see the price on the secondary market first) but am I the only one who's disappointed that there aren't any Arabic numeral dials on the PM Daytonas? I mean WTH? Those are the models that are supposed to have the Arabic numerals.

Aren't these the same watches that pre-existing prior to Basel 2017, just with a rubber strap instead of leather? (Except maybe the WG one.)

YG but too pricey for a strap like most have said. The RG YM has gone down a lot since they first came out on the grey market. Seeing them for 17K now. Just had a friend buy one for 20k like 4 months ago.

I've never been a huge fan of any reference of Daytona but I really like this in WG. The Oysterflex teamed up with the ceramic and the sub dials gives it a lot of black which I like.
That combination seems to be rather retro to my eyes but I can't put my finger on exactly how. Perhaps there's a reference from the past that was similar.
The strap doesn't shout dive watch to me, it reminds me more of a race car tyre which would be more logical with the motorsport angle.
I'll be having a good look at this when my AD has one in.

I can't see myself paying that much for a rubber strap.I Pass but i voted WG. I have salt & pepper hair so i've alway's worn either WG or SS watches. My Chain is WG too so i don't want to clash with YG.

Surprised RG got the least votes. Really like the RG with ivory dial.

Interesting. On the Rolex web site they offer only one YG and WG option but 5 RG dials for the oysterflex.

That's because the WG and YG are new, and both harken to Newmanesque dials as well. All the RGs already exist, just now on OF.

I thought the YG also previously existed and the only new one was the WG?

Seems like a lot of dough for a "specialty" watch that would only work in certain situations. Plus I think metal bracelet when I think Daytonas. I can't really see this being the only Daytona in one's collection, if you have several, then ok.

The Aquanaut is often regarded as the best one only Patek, but this has a ceramic bezel too, so I think it will serve.

IMHO i think Rolex was not really going after existing daytona lovers with this release. To me, this seems more geared to those who prefer AP or a PP aquanaut specifically because of the rubber straps. This has the potential to really expanded the market for them with a whole new bunch of potential customers which is a great business move on their part. I never would have considered a daytona before, but now I've ordered the WG. But, I'm not a daytona purist, so i also get how this watch may be polarizing for some.

I agree on lots of fronts. It's so easy for Rolex to put an Oysterflex strap on a watch, as well as rolling out the inevitable cerachrome bezel, so why not? It isn't like it takes years of R&D and millions in new inventory. It expands the Daytona line to better compete with the market segment you mentioned.

FWIW, I don't find this release "polarizing." I think it's attractive, but isn't for me because I'm not a guy who wants to have a whole bunch of expensive watches, and for me this would be less flexible (no pun intended) than a metal bracelet Daytona.

Seems like there is a lot of love for WG in general on the forum but when I tried to sell a WG version recently a dealer said there was more demand and a better secondary market for YG and RG since WG looks like SS to an average consumer. I wonder what the sales values are. If I were to guess probably YG, RG, WG in that order? Thoughts?

My perspective is this is the trying to cash in on people who are frustrated waiting for a 116500. I think it will work to some degree. The WG dial is compelling.

Did you get an ETA from your AD? I've heard 12-20 weeks.

Yes in the past YG and RG have generally been more popular and resale stronger but this WG one with ceramic dial may be different is my gut feeling, plus Tom's good point about frustrated SS buyers. Lots of love as you say, even tho Rolex have selected the YG as their promo model.

My AD said 6 months when i ordered and then followed up the monday after Basel and said early summer (which i took to assume june-ish). So i would not be surprised to get it anywhere in that timeframe.
