When I wear my 5's I slip a 2100 into my pocket.
If I need an adjustment it takes <15 seconds more than a glidelock or an easy link.

But gives me more of a connection.

Nice combo Josh....

I use the glide lock all the time in my SD4000. I love the adjustability.

Definitely more of the original tool watch vibe from Rolex.
I love my 6 digits but have an even greater appreciation for the 5s than before the 6s came out.

I did. I had a friend who really wanted it so I let it go. If I ever add another one it will be the black dial I think, a bit more versitile. I may try the new red sea dweller also with increased size.

Stunning. I also prefer 5 digits. Just something to do with size, non PCLs, authentic toolwatch vibe.

How best to describe them than as authentic blend of 4 digit charm, and 6 digit technical sophistication.

Yeah...some awfully nice 5 digit models you got there, Josh.

Question, though: how long are they sticking around?

Not for everyone. I much prefer my 5 (and 4) digits.

I think the proportions on the 5-digit cases are/were spot on. I wish Rolex could just update the insides and bracelets and keep the cases. Oh well, guess you can't drive sales like that. This is coming from a 6 digit owner.

It's the same reason someone would spend as much on a Porsche 993 as they would on a new 991.

For me, the great thing about the 5-digit series is that they retain much of the vibe of the older watches, but they're still in pretty good shape and lower priced compared to vintage stuff. If I bought a 1655, I'd probably worry about it because of the value. With my 16570, I basically wear it like a G-Shock.

Nope. If I do it will be after my AD gets back from baselworld. I have some questions regarding the new releases and availability 👍. Could sway my decision to keep or sell.

Gotcha, it's a sweet watch that's for sure. What release are you interested in from Basel?

Cool, I'm interested in the blue dial Sky-Dweller and DJ 41. Possibly the Sea Dweller depending on how it wears

Congrats on your new incomings Josh.

Interesting observation about the clasp. I always thought the more solid bracelet and clasp was a reason people go 6 digit rather 5 digit. I never thought about the 5 digit's clasp adjustibility.

Nice analogy. I love the character of an air-cooled Porsche. Agreed that 5 digits are way more affordable than their 4 digit counterparts. I'm used to the maxi dials of the 6 digits, so I think I would struggle going back to the smaller hour markers of the 5 digit references (other than the Kermit).

Interesting that a lot of people are getting into the 5 digits in recent times. Perhaps this is a backlash against the recent releases and the lack of a ceramic SS Coke GMT.
