You people are ridiculous! I wear mine daily. The secret to worry free wear is simple.

I downloaded the Rolex screen saver so I can look at it often and tell the time while my watch is home safe and sound.
I don't even have to save for a new one. They give them away free.

Whew. I thought I was the only one who bought the watch and then put it in a fireproof, climate-controlled safe. I am very concerned about resale value.
Protecting resale has worked so well that I am thinking of bringing my next car home on a flatbed, and putting it in my garage, never to be driven. I also have a closet full of never-worn clothes with tags still on there, and shoes still in boxes. I hate to get the bottom of my shoes scuffed. |

i personally wear my gmt everywhere i go regardless of what im doing, i only remove it when i shower or jump in a pool or sleep. My girlfriend makes fun of me because when i dress up in the morning for work, the first thing i do when i get out of the shower (after drying off of course) is put on my watch.
i personally love the thought of the daily wear and tear as both my gmts were new and i love to think that im the one who is breaking them in |

The safest way to buy and wear a Rolex ?
That's what i did : -bought it on Ebay from a Chinese seller, with only two evaluations (both negative), with traditional post shipment and no insurance (so i didn't have to pay the import tax). Finally i didn't receive anything, but bought the IDEA of a Rolex... i can still discuss about MY Rolex around the coffee machine at NO risks ! VIVE LA FRANCE Tom ! |

I'm afraid I am in denial! I put my Rolex on and go out into the nasty world and let sun, rain, food, sweat!, and other scary things get at it.
I just pretend it's a Seiko! |

I'm thankful that our TRF community started this thread as an answer to the somewhat questionable questions that have been raised by some members. There is a credo that says that the only silly question is the one you don't ask but some of those questions were really, really green.
All members have to be treated with equal respect, especially our new members. But, and I repeat myself, some of the latest queries have been a bit, well, how shall I put it? Very, very, very newbee. In my position as a MOD I try to refrain from easy- or snide comments toward members that pose such questions. It is not the right thing to do. But our TRF community possesses a level of self policing that is very commendable!

I bought my SS/YG Yacht-Master and put it on my wrist! There is no way I would baby this watch as I bought it to enjoy.
So then I took it out in the desert hiking and took it through the briers and thorns and scratched the Hades out of it. Then I took sandpaper to it so that any scratches on it would be ones that I knew where they came from. Then I played fetch with it with my dog. He decided to wear it and now I can't get it back without him trying to chew my arm off. He used to be a wonderful, playful pup, but now is rather stuck up as you can see by the photo! This has complete changed his personality! However, he is complaining that he can't see the dial and wants me the "fix it"! Sheesh! It is amazing how wearing a Rolex can change someone! So it appears that I purchased a 10 K timepiece for my $275.00 dog. Life is good!

Yes, I "get it" that this is largely a fun thread.
Seriously, though, it is not a good idea to wear a Rolex in a very hot environment. This may be a Jacuzzi or a hot tub. The reason is that extremely high temperatures can damage the gaskets. Sorry to do this hijacking.

You are not supposed to take any of the stickers off of the watch. It's kind of like the mattress police checking to see if the tags are still on your mattress and the heavy fines that can be imposed if you take off the tag.
I'd hate to see any of my TRF buddies going to jail or prison for removing the tags off of their watches. I had a solution for not damaging my watch. I took it to an Authorized Dealer and let him damage it for me. I sent my watch off on Saturday for the new case. I'm going to get my watch back looking like brand new again. Funny Thread. I never wear my Rolex out of doors at night in case it becomes a target for death rays from outer space.
Especially with that super Rolex lume which lights the whole night sky up - easily makes your watch visible from another galaxy. |
