There are plenty of people (a lot on this forum too, actually) who buy a high end item and end up not being happy with it, and return it to buy another that they like better, and take a big loss. You seem to be the recipient of such an item, someone else took the loss and you have the gain.

I can't afford that watch at this time, new or used, but if I were in a position that I could easily afford a new one, I would only go new. I went new from AD for a 20th anniversary gift for a Rolex for my wife, from AD, even though I could buy the same from someone here for a couple of grand less. The AD experience (for my wife) and absolute peace of mind, and knowing she is the only person in the world who wore that watch, was worth the extra money for me.

Now since then we have bought a few used watches from trusted sellers here (my sister in law, etc.) and are very happy with the purchase as well, and the savings always put a smile on my face.

What I am saying is that your situation, and your feelings, are only yours and you can truly determine what fits you best.

The watch (from what you have described) seems like a steal of a deal and with stickers on it, you seem to have landed a like new watch at a big discount. If the big discount is not enough *for you* to feel comfortable with the whole thing, then take the loss and fix the situation.

If you are satisfied with authenticity (RSC or what not confirming all for you), you can keep the watch for a few weeks and see how you feel about it. Chances are, you will bond with it and will start smiling when you think of the money you saved!

I wouldn't flip it and agree with other here who suggest you should just take that money you are saving and buy another piece.

I agree with you. A piece this high caliber that is what is nawing at me. It would be one thing if this was stainless and I was flipping it in a year. This is pretty much my last Rolex for a long time. Cost aside, I cannot see not having peace of mind. However, is it worth the loss and the extra $13K? I am still pondering that.

Questions for you to research:
Is the AD who sold this watch to the seller where you bought it the watch's original AD?
If yes, did it get returned to them by the original purchaser or someone else?
If yes, why didn't they enter the original purchaser's name on the warranty card at the time of the original sale?
If yes, why have they needed to deliver it to an overseas non-Rolex dealer? Do they not sell pre-owned Rolexes themselves?

Determining all this will help you to be assured (or more worried) about the authenticity

If no, how does this watch get sold by an AD in 2015 without the warranty card being completely filled out and then find its way back to another AD will the blank card and all its stickers, apparently unused? And then from that second AD across the Atlantic to a non-AD.

Actually, I'm going to quit. If it is a no (not the original AD) that would be enough for me to bail. Too many important questions that cannot be answered.

And now TRF member descartes believes he sees a defect in the dial?? I suggest you and descartes private message with one another. If you determine that to be correct, I'd get out as fast as I could!

I'm not trying to spook or upset you. Not surprisingly you have gotten the full spectrum of responses and suggestions in reply to your post. I, myself, have an uneasy feeling about your "great deal" but my opinion counts no more than those who are telling you to just forget it and enjoy the watch.

I dont think I have doubts about authenticity. I just think I am unsure if I want to wear used

OK, our posts crossed. If all you care about is wearing used then my comments and concerns should not be a source of worry for you.

You may have an authentic, stolen watch. And that's why it's in the USA.

I could easily live with "used." I couldn't stand living with "what the hell is the story with my watch?" But, that's just me.

I will always lean towards buying new as I only buy something (this expensive) if I love it and/or plan on keeping it for a very long time.

If you're planning on keeping it for a long time, I'd replace it with a new one. You should absolutely love the piece without reservation.

The OP is dealing with a very anguishing situation. Folks are trying their best to help him out. Not sure that was in the best of taste unless, of course, I was the only one who missed it.

Hmmmm, you do seem to be asking questions you might have asked before buying this watch. I bought a two month old one from DSW at the end of last year. Local AD wanted $69k for a new one. I plan to keep this forever, but feel like I got carried away with Watch Lust and ran out of Day-C waitlist patience. lol I couldn't be happier and am glad I sacrificed two months of warrantee and a few sticker peels and saved some real money. And 3 months in, my watch is exactly like a new one would be after a few months.

If you aren't going to be happy with it, flip it and get a new one. If you are going to be happy with it, get it looked at by an AD to confirm all is kosher and enjoy the hell out of it!

If I were going to drop this kinda dough on a watch, I would want it 'virgin' and making me feel ecstatic after purchase. You don't seem to be in this position and it's not just a question of authenticity.

This is not about authenticity, peace of mind or whatnot since you did all the necessary research on the seller and the original AD. Basically you're feeling "soiled" for wearing a used watch, even though you bought it mint from a trusted seller and with stickers. Only you can determine whether it's worth it to lose 13k (plus an additional few K's from reselling the watch) in order to get that feeling off your mind.

100% a personal decision. For me, not in a million years would new be worth $13K more than pre-owned. I think you have to really ask what the real difference is -- it's not authenticity; it's not condition; I'm sure it's not stickers. If I were you, I'd pay $600 or so and send it in to RSC for a full service and convince myself that I'm getting a new watch back.

With the money you would spend and lose by selling this and buying new you could buy a whole other Rolex.

I say you wear it for a week and if you stil feel the same then sell it and buy new. I think that beautiful dial will make you fall in love.

If you know it's authentic and not stolen, you got a great and should enjoy the heck out of that awesome piece and not look back. I personally would not consider BNIB with stickers "used".

I think you are right. Like I said I do not think there is one thing wrong with this watch. The amount of Rolex's I have worn over the tears and the weight and feel of this thing are real. It is the question, should I have gone new. However the thought of now paying $18K to go new is not something I want to do right now. I think I will hold on to it and bond and go from there.

Really? Not to be harsh to the OP but what we are talking about here is the OP's thought process not that authenticity of a watch. Not the cost or value or the manner purchased and no answer will work until the OP decides. We weigh out all of the factors but none of it matters. If the OP wants a new watch it is what he will do. If he can get good with what he has he will be good. This the kind of thread that is responded to with best intentions but no answers really work till the OP decides. I would keep the watch and enjoy it.
