I love it. I feel it fills the role of the more in your face, multi purpose sporty watch that can be pulled off with a suit, or business casual type wear, similar to a RO. Shorts and a tee shirt, maybe not so much, but jeans and a polo? Absolutely. Well tailored, modern fitting suit with edgy shoes and shirt? Definitely.

Just one more comment ... in spite of its size, I find it to be extremely comfortable ... it is important to have the bracelet sized properly,

In my book this would be a tool watch, except it's used white gold so not the most robust. I guess that just makes it a bloody expensive tool watch that you have to be careful with!!

Wear it with whatever you like, but please don't try to justify it as a dress watch.
The dress code for what watch to wear is all a bit passé nowadays (unless a written invitation expressly stipulates what may and may not be worn). It's like saying you can't have red wine with white fish; as much as I'm old school and like some things done by the book, times change and things move on.

The new Sky-Dweller is a Rolex. Your money, your wrist, your watch. Wear it with whatever you like and call it what you want

Weight factor aside, this watch has ALOT going on. I found it to be pretty "blingy". I liked the 42 but man its a wrist full of watch. As a former YMII owner, I find this to have even more wrist presence most likely due to the fluted bezel. There is no doubt its dressy but Im wondering if its quite a bit more dressy than casual??? I never gave this piece this slightest consideration bc of the price and I wasn't wild about the layout. What are some thoughts on where the SkyD falls and what type of watch it is. Just curious...
I had the same thought when I tried on the WG Sky-Dweller last year. To me it's a little too big and too busy. I really like the pictures of the SS Sky-Dweller but I'll have to wait to see one in person before I decide if I'm going to buy one or not. Same boat

Did some comparisons recently wondering how big the Sky Dweller really is

Compared to the DSSD it is smaller and even in PM didn't feel heavier

Hope these help

IMHO, it's fab, and it's at the top of my list. I'm a big man so the size is irrelevant, I just find the watch stunning, just waiting for the SS to be out.

The SKD has become my grail since it was first introduced. Although I love the look of the WG with ivory I will most likely buy the steel version and hope the ivory dial is available. If not, a white dial will be just fine.

I think that the Sky-Dweller can do it all. Sporty, dressy, what ever the task at hand is. It is a big watch and wears as such but not too big. I own the YG and WG versions and really like them. I think the SS is going to be a winner.
