While I like it, these forum LE'a annoy me. "Here's a special watch to celebrate our members. Oh, and it's sold out before it goes on sale. But don't worry, the special people who got one will likely flip them for 4x the retail. Enjoy!"

Verrry cool. What abomination of a watch would TRF get if it got a special edition?

Well, if you dare to read the thousands of pages of the official thread regarding this LE on Orologi e Passioni forum you will see that there was a thorough vetting process to ensure the watches went to worthy forum members. Obviously somebody will take advantage of the possibility to get one, but this was truly a LE dedicated to serious collectors and passioned WIS.

That's exactly the stuff that bugs me. The sorry you're not "worthy" enough vetting process. If I have to be deemed "worthy" to earn the right to buy something, I'm immediately turned off and not interested in the product or the purveyors anymore.

A huge pet peeve of mine.

I think you are looking at it from the wrong angle. It was a community effort from forum members and the watches went to individuals with established reputation.
Obviously somebody 'worthy' was left out but that happens...
