If your not wearing it and there is no sentimental value then do the deal. I've done something similar in the last 12 months.

I was thinking about a Pepsi and ended up buying a new BLNR instead (high prices of the used market, uncertainty about an older used watch, etc.) . Mind you, this watch is really meant for my young son, so I wanted something newer (better in the long run.) So if you were to ask me whether you should buy a Pepsi or a BLNR, I would suggest BLNR.

But since you already have it, and you are the orig owner, I wouldn't sell it if I were you.

There are plenty of people around who can do a fantastic job of refreshing that watch for you. I had my pride and joy (9 year old bluesy) serviced by a local shop here in San Jose (did/does a lot of work on Rolex and other brands for many reputable ADs here) for a reasonable price. What I am trying to say is, don't be worried about servicing it if you are using a reputable repair center.

Enjoy your beautiful watch and save for the newer model, or a Sub instead.

I am pretty certain that in the event you sell it, you will live to regret it. Classic , iconic watch no longer produced.

Just curious what other people would do, thanks!
first of all your name is ilovepepsi. I literally had this same conversation with an AD who buys Rolex, he told me, "just buy a new watch and keep yours, it is one you want to hang on to". So that is what I did.

I believe you mean the "all models up until the 6-digit* fan club," or the "air-cooled Rolex fan club" ....and NOOOO, don't trade a Pepsi for a BLNR.

Actually, although I obviously wouldn't do it, I say just buy what you like.

I have the same watch and will sell it when I find something I like better. Demand is good now and it's not my favorite watch.

The Pepsi is a pretty distinct sharp looking watch and l would guess you would miss it. The BLNR will be in production for a long time yet, no rush. The Pepsi will only appreciate in value. Why not have both? Good luck. Cheers!

There are hundreds of thousands perhaps well over a milllion 5 digit GMT's out there. Easy to find another one if you sell this one. It is not a rare watch.

Rare is relative. Prices are rising, so the number of available Pepsis apparently doesn't quite cover the desire.

Exactly what happened to me. Traded my first pepsi for 116520. soon afterwards got back two more pepsi and currently have both the Daytona and pepsi.

Glad you decided to hold on to it. I might have flilped it for the blnr if I wasnt the oiriginal owner.

Good luck with the servicing. And we all know too well how a pepsi looks like but few pictures doesnt harm. Lets see some pics of your pride, we all love pics here.

Should I get rid of my GMT Master II? (pepsi)

Asking this question, I must ask you. Are you totally deranged?

...but then you decide to keep it which means you are sane...well as sane as somebody who spends a lot of cash on a watch and goes on a forum to talk about it.

Explain to me why prices are rising on a mass produced watch that was made from 1989 to 2007? It is the biggest con going today. There certainly is hype on the internet for them but that doesn't mean I have to pay for it. Local prices are much lower than on the internet where sellers have an agenda.

Please don't... Pepsi is the only watch I've bought pre-loved and I regret not having bought one when they were available at the store.

I can assure you, you'll regret that decision forever. So please, don't even think about this anymore.

Where can you find them locally for cheaper, and what is it about internet resellers that have more of an "agenda" than local sellers?

Hype is exactly what you're paying for when you buy any used or new Rolex. Why else would a steel watch with a movement that's barely changed in decades cost $8K new? Why does a Sub now cost double what it did a dozen years ago?

I wear an Exp II, which is identical to a GMT outside of the bezel, but even I understand that more people want the GMT, so it's priced accordingly on the used market.

Everyone is saying you'll regret it! but I think there is no point of staying with a watch that lost its charm to you.
how about you keep it away for a month, after that try to wear it and see how you feel about it!
I love your watch! I wish I can get it as a birth year from the 80's, one day...
cheers

Sell it to buy a bloody BLNR.

Your Pepsi is a classic and loaded with class and do you really want to exchange that perfectly proportioned watch for a bloated bit of metal ?

It is akin to swapping Kyle Minogue for Judge Judy - No no and thrice no.

Regards

Mick

I see both sides to this.

I admire the old GMT models and have been close to buying one. However their prices are high now and would I flip my BLNR for one? No.

I've also flipped an old SD an old LV and an old SS Daytona. All bought new and immaculate full sets. Would I give up my BLNR to have either of these back? No.

If I currently had an old GMT would I consider flipping it for a BLNR? Probably.

The Pepsi is iconic. Personally I'd never get rid of mine. I've coveted it since 1980 and finally got it a week ago. Yours is new enough that it probably doesn't carry the collector value of an older one yet, but new is always nice. Since they went to white gold for Pepsi's now a SS version will probably appreciate faster than before. I'd hold onto it.
