No, not nuts, but maybe sucked into the hype. Considering the difficulty in getting the 116500 and getting rid of it for what I suspect will be a readily available watch in a year or two, I'd have to be pretty damn sure. Keep in mind the Daytona is fairly thin and light, well balanced on the wrist...at least IMO.
The Sky Dweller is thick, and may feel top heavy. Wonder if it will feel more so without a PM bracelet to help balance it. If you can manage it, get the SkyDweller and keep both for a while before deciding...and then flip one if your wife won't allow both. |

One is a chronograph and one is an annual calendar. If you're replacing one for the other it's clear you don't have a need for either complication. Just choose the one you like best.
And don't flip it, which to me means trade it in. Sell the Daytona C outright and you'll probably get enough to pay for the whole SkyD. |

I wouldn't, and I like both watches.

Your obviously have a preference for the Sky Dweller. The Daytona has a lot of hype around it and for good reason, but if you prefer something else and can't afford both then by all means sell it.
Would you be having this same dilemma if you owned the Sky Dweller? |

In terms of value I think it's a silly trade....but if you're not feeling the Daytona....I'd sell it and buy the SkyDweller to follow your heart.....one should just about break even with today's market assuming your Daytona is in good condition.

If you are wearing a $14k watch, you should absolutely love it. Nothing about it should 'drive me absolutely nuts'.
I bought my wife a white 116520 that she loves, and I love it on her. It is not a watch for me, although I would gladly have it as part of a rotation... but as the only daily wearer watch, not the watch for me. Perhaps your Daytona is not the watch for you either regardless of how much others worship it.

I guess it depends on why you acquired the Daytona in the first place. If it was a piece you really wanted, I probably wouldn't trade. If you bought it because it was just the latest shiny new toy, sure flip it while it's commanding top dollar and acquire the SD.
I want both but my first priority is acquiring the Daytona. Once I have my Daytona, I'll evaluate the SD and see if it still sings to me. |

In addition, I think the Daytona wears too small...

I felt the same way about Daytona, which made it a perfect fit for my wife's smaller wrist.
But this past weekend while getting a hair cut at a local hair salon, I saw a young Asian man with a smaller build wearing a black Daytona C and it looked amazing on him, and did not look small for his wrist / size at all. (Actually looked a little too big... I had to double check to confirm it was indeed a Daytona.) I think how a watch wears highly depends on the person who is wearing it.

Am I crazy to even think about flipping a DaytonaC for a SS Sky Dweller?
I would not do it. Especially not for the TT SD. That is the worst 1. The following link shows this guys funny opinion on the TT SD. Also the daytona and the SD wear very differently. SD is a big watch.

You already know what you want. Losing sleep over it is quite the indicator.
But I wouldn't be surprised that once that Daytona slips off your wrist for good, you will be pining for it with a 'what did I do?' If your like 'rare' watches. A SS Daytona is by far the rarest of all Rolexes. Once the initial order rush of SS SD's are filled. I would be surprised if the demand ever gets to that height again. To contrast this with my SS Daytona. I waited over 8 years to get one MSRP. why 8 years? Because the chase is fun. And more appreciated when finally acquired this way, for me anyway. |

I'm just not fond of the Daytonas; I'd much prefer the SkyD.

Simple. If that's what you want. Do it.

Makes perfect sense for you if the SkyD is a good fit on your wrist! Slightly too big for me or I'd be purchasing one.

Wait until you can see the SS Sky Dweller in the metal and evaluate them Mano a Mano. I agree with the others that there will be plenty two tone sky dwellers after the initial excitement and you won't be hurt on your value of your Daytona in the interim. As for me I'm all in on the Sky Dweller.

Kind of what I'm thinking too. I actually thought about selling it immediately after purchase to cash in on the $3-4k difference b/w grey market and MSRP, but then I fell in love with the watch!
