Great write-up John! I'm upset I wasn't able to attend last night; but I'm glad one of us got to see the spread!

Think I am headed that way myself...at Basel thought the Sky Dweller was the one for me, and maybe the SD43, but I've cooled on the Sky Dweller...though that can change when I actually get to try one on.

Sensui - thanks for sharing, great info and pics!

nice write up..and at 6.5" wrist myself, I have a feeling I will have to let the SD43 go based on your pix..
I tried the Exp2 and DSSD and both wear large on my wrist..guess sub/Daytona is it for me...

Great writeup and pics. Love the dial/bezel on the WG Daytona. Would definitely prefer it on a bracelet though.

The blonde lady that works there is very rude. I stopped by one day to try on a Sea Dweller , she seemed busy and flustered that I asked to try one on and not buy on the spot, when I took off my green sub to put it on she took it back and said "oh you don't need this, you already have have a green sub", she pulled it back from my hand put it in the display case, walked away, while yelling to another customer that walked in "can I help you?". Rudest salesperson I have ever met.

Thanks for the kind words ladies and gents. I don't start a lot of threads and do incomings but all the great information/pictures provided by others previewing these new watches inspired me to give a little perspective of my own in hopes of being helpful to someone else. It's a great community we have here that really makes this hobby far more interesting.

I do want to add a couple more thoughts since I woke up this morning. I do think the Sky Dweller wore smaller to me despite the larger dial and fluted bezel because of the way the case wrapped around my wrist (it's a thicker case but the way it contours is more alike a Daytona/YM).....whereas the Sea Dweller wore more like a flat puck exacerbated by the protrusion on the caseback. It is highly dependent on your wrist size and the shape of your wrist. Another fellow WIS (I found out this morning he's a TRF guy also since he dropped me a line!) that I checked out the SD43 with, he had a wrist just shy of 7.5" it seems like and IMO the watch looked far better on him in terms of how it sits and how much estate it took in proportion to his wrist.

And yes.....that white gold Daytona....must have for sure in my books, it's only a matter of when. Just beautiful no matter how you look at it. I might buy a Sky Dweller yet but I tend to agree with others that's posted similar thoughts....the stainless versions just don't scream like the PM versions I've seen....they are definitely designed by Rolex to be more muted in nature IMO......but that Daytona comes first for sure.

Thanks again to this community especially those who take the time to share to add to the wealthy pool of information we have here @ TRF.

Glad you go to try them on my friend, and knew you would write it up all very well, I was moving towards the blue SkyD but think I'm now moving back to the WG Daytona... got your pic on my desktop now.

Excellent review.

I'm having the opposite feeling as most I guess but I'm really starting to like the ss SD. It will probably be awhile before I see one in person so I greatly appreciate the pictures and your description of how it sits on the wrist. With barley over 7 inch wrists I was worried it might be too big but from your review I still have hope it might fit.

Thanks for the review of the new watches; this is the kind of nuanced/deep dive observation that I like. I have found that some Rolex divers wear like flat hockey pucks, as you say, where the entire watch head, including case and lugs, doesn't wrap around the wrist. More like protrudes straight out.
