SD50 for me, though the D-blue dial is great.

The Sd43. Its more in proportion. He is lighter and a little bit cheaper.

D-Blue will be a much more unique watch several years from now.

I will try on the SD43 before I get one and the option of choosing the DSSD-Blue is on the table. Many factors for me figure in. Size, look, other watches in my collection, discount, resale value. Probably the biggest is how would the SD43 work with my Tudor LHD and the Black Bay Black. I know that they are very different watches, but do have a similar look. If I chose the SD43 I would readjust my collection to reflect more diversity.

Price shouldn't be a factor. They are materially similar . I have large wrists, to the point with any ceremic 40 MM. looks rediculous. I tried dssd blue and wanted to love it as a daily but it really can't be worn with a formal work sleeve. I tried the sd43/50 yesterday and it truly is the "goldilocks" watch for me.... A true daily, perfect size, and will allow my rhodium YM to be a bit more special and protect it from the dreaded daily scars which it attracts horribly

Deep Blue face is lovely, but everything else is out of proportion so it has to be the SD43!

Both if you can...only 1 is tough as the dial on the D blue is unlike anything Rolex has done so lean towards the D blue even though the new SD proportions seem far better.

Oh and the bracelet on the sd43/50 is compelling.... Very in proportion, my only gripe is I wish it had glide Lock! The dssd bracelet is a mistake!

I own both and both are fantastic for different reasons.

As mentioned the DBlue dial is a thing of beauty and it is truly incredible in the metal. I wear it mostly on weekends. Its big, it's chunky and it screams AWESOMENESS.

TheSD43 is more suitable for everyday wear IMO. The new larger bracelet, makes for a very well balanced fit and feel. The 43mm case wears smaller and I think Rolex really nailed the proportions on this one. You also get the new3235 movement which is less talked about here, but significant to me.

Really a tough call but if only one, I'd vote the DBlue. I just get a goofy smile every time I slip it on

Do you have even the means to buy a SD50 at a price you are willing to pay?

My take is buy the DSSD and then when you can actually get the other at MSRP you can make the decision. You won't lose much on the blue and if you like the other better you will know after owning the other for a while.

For daily wear, the DSSD is THICK. it's can be a little problematic with a jacket and dress shirt. I love the SD43.

Wait - I bet the SD43 will be accessible shortly and it is a more harmonic watch compared to any deep sea which in my eyes is very bulky.

Great idea.
That's also the problem though.
Getting them in the same place at the same time will be very difficult.

That's because they are bulky.
All Deepsea's have been bulky since the 60's. That's the look and a feature of the watch.
Form follows function 100% with this one

It's not like it's unwearable

The D blue is a future classic as it won't be repeated in the future. The SD 43 is a great looking watch, but I can't see it being discontinued. Once all the newness has worn off will it be any better than a standard submariner, which who knows may follow suit to being 43 in the near future.

Looks increasingly like the D-Blue and SD43 are taking all the oxygen and the money at this size, wonder if the black DSSD's days might be numbered.

If past experience is anything to go by the D-blue will go and the classic Rolex dive watch with a black dial will remain.
Following that, should the sales of the black DSSD flag due to the SD43 taking away sales then the line may be discontinued. IMO.

I suppose it all depends upon what space Rolex wants to play in within the dive watch market and how much they value having a technological showcase in their line up.

Two days ago I saw a MKII DSSD and a no date Subc along side a date Subc in the window of an AD. They also had the same Subs inside on display inside.
Over the last few days I've seen a number of Subc's around in dealers.

D Blue.

I do like the new movement in the SD43. I wish the SD43 had a larger dial.

I'm with you. Have to try both. The D-Blue dial compliments my BLNR with the blue/black.

I love the deep blue, but the thickness of the DS and the wider more proportionate bracelet on the SD43 would probably cause me to wait it out for the SD43. I do love that blue dial however

Both are fantastic choices. Owning both, I can say the D-Blue feels more special.
If it had to be one or the other, D-Blue wins out.
Yes, the proportions may not be ideal for some (or most) but it wears great and you have to rememberer that it's the most badass dive watch ever...
There's a reason for those proportions and so called over engineering .
