Congratulations Paul, which type of sunglasses are you using?
I always use polarized when going outside, specially in the sea.

Sounds like a great day. A good hike is a great way to clear the mind and relax.

20 miles no problem! Just remember to drink water, change your socks and take Motrin. I learned in the Army if you do those three things nothing can hurt you and if something does hurt you you were obviously not doing one of those often enough.

James, I hope one day we can practice our hobby together, either in your country or mine

Always alone. Yeah, I know, you're not supposed to, but I go in to the mountains to get AWAY from people. Also, don't have to worry about how the other person is feeling, or if they want to extend or cut short the trip, rest, eat etc. I carry an abundance of safety equipment with me, too much in fact. A multi tool, lots of water, medical kit, emergency kit with bivey, tools, space blanket, GPS, food, I even have a one-man tent! But most importantly a PLB, Personal Locator Beacon. This satellite distress beacon when activated will send out an SOS and notify Rangers I am in trouble, could very well save my life

There are all kinds of critters out there, including Mountain Lions! It is unfortunate, but about 10 years ago a hiker was actually killed by one, incidentally, very close to where I took that picture! VERY rare, but I carry pepper spray, not sure it will do any good to a 200 pound lion, but makes me feel better. The only large animal I saw yesterdy was a deer; got very close to it too.

Thanks! And I agree with everything you said. Thinking I might go 18 next one then for 20. Or maybe I'll shoot for the 20 right off. We will see!

Congrats!
You do realize posting that picture of yourself just gave Jocke new material, right?

This is good stuff. Cheers to you Paul. I struggle to walk to the store or the bus stop after knee surgeries.
