I might be in the minority, but I'd rather have a 6263 (seriously). Then I'd buy a castle in Europe with all the money I'd save.

Too bad they didn't put it on ebay. Someone could have gotten it for $99,999

New article on Jake's Rolex World puts the price at 10-20 million at auction. Should be interesting. Is the watch worth it? The market will tell.

"The watch that in many ways can be credited with launching the vintage collectible watch market that we all know today" - Balderdash. There was a market long before.

"Some weeks later, none other than Aurel Bacs, the man who had set the record for the most expensive Daytona last year (and recently broke it once more) was in California to see the watch. - Poppycock. The record was set by the buyer, not the bloke in a suit with a gavel.

Nice watch, if a bit grubby with PN DNA. Great old-school 'Hollywood movie star' - loved his films, especially those with Redford. The rest is hype, like this

I wonder how and when (after PN's demise? Nice.) this generous gift went from Mr. Cox to Mr. Peck, and for how much...

As for the auction result, it will certainly be notable
What does a Paul Newman autograph fetch these days, or a jacket he wore? Millions?! Nah.

I thought about michaelodonnel023's point and I think it's valid. I can buy a quartz watch for $4, but I'm wearing a $4k thing that also tells time. I could buy a vintage Daytona for $100k, and for this one special piece, at $10M, it's only 100 times the price of a Daytona not that special, while my El Primero is 1000x the price of the quartz equivalent. So, relatively speaking, not that obscene. Hard to stomach the hard numbers, nonetheless.
