I wouldn't say I've lost interest but my collection is very nearly complete. I'm no longer in a real rush to add to it. One more PM piece and a black 116500 and I'm done.

I guess the question is, do you have to buy watches to have interest in watches? I have a functional assortment of 4, probably not adding more, but I love hitting the AD's for various brands to learn and experience (and maybe buy down the road).
Love hitting new AD's while traveling, to talk, learn and look, like next week in LV. |

We have scaled way back. But it has been more about family time than anything else. We are also preparing for a big move in 2018 so we just are consumed by other things at the moment.

I'm still satisfied with one Rolex, but do occasionally pick up other watches that are interesting. Right now the Eone Bradley is singing to me but may be the end of the year before I pick one up.

i cant help but feel the pessimistic sense of realism exuding from this thread, it appears that many have resigned themselves to the fact that like a long term junkie they just don't get the same high they once did from this drug/hobby.
I too find myself getting increasingly disillusioned with the whole game and having always aimed for 5 i now own a a stout collection of 9 watches that don't get the wrist time they deserve. The "i just need one more" feeling has been replaced by a " id like that but would need to sell 5 to get there" however contentment and complacency prevent further purchases. I totally relate to the often seen mindless "my pcl is scratched" and other stories which also exacerbate my growing sense of negativity about the hobby however one needs to ask if many are really going off the idea why do we continue to visit this forum |

Rolex AD's need to get a grip. We are talking about mass produced watches, close to a million a year. I am really ok with the Patek 5711 situation (or the 5164 situation in my case) as at least their production volume as well as the brand its self reasonably explains the exclusivity. Rolex these days is artificial exclusivity pretending to be actual exclusivity which drives me mad. They are great watches no doubt, but please stop trying to convince me they are "exclusive". PP, AP, ALS, and all the small independents are exclusive. Even the ones that have models readily available at AD's. |

I'm as excited as ever
I love seeing the incomings here and the diverse range of opinions on any given reference. I only own Rolex at this point, And I've just begun to learn more about Panerai and Patek |

But truly, I've gone a week without posting or even reading, felt it was a long time, and that I was out. But here I am.

Yep, slowed down considerably. I suppose mostly because my price range and variety are narrow (i.e. Rolex, Omega, $6k - $13k) and I've had many of those same watches several times over.
Maybe I should have kept a few of them, like the Daytona C and Daytona SS, SD43, SubTT bluesy and black dial, Hulk, Kermit, Batman, SubC Date, SubC ND, 16710 GMT, SD 16600, SD4000, DJ2 fluted and smooth, PO Li Ti 42.5 & 45, Speedmaster Chocolate Sandwich, Moonwatch + others, DSOTM, FOIS, etc, etc, etc. Funny, I'd take mostly any of the above again, but I'm trying to enjoy the few I currently own. But even those are for sale, with a 3rd incoming. But the interest has definitely declined considerably. Only time will tell. |

I haven't lost interest, but there arent a whole lot of watches calling my name right now. The ones that I do like are out of my price range and would require me to part with my 1680 and 1675, both of which I am very happy with. I would like to add a 1600/1601 at some point... maybe later in the year or sooner if a very nice example comes my way.

Yeah...kinda ...all a watch does is tell time....you cant drive it, ride it, play with it etc. plus 5k to 10k+ is a ton of money for something that just tells time ....the same as my Casio does. The same could be said of cars too....a Mustang 5.0 and a Yaris both will get you there but which would you rather drive. I still like Rolex, Omega, IWC's but at 60 and with nobody to leave them with when i go....I wont be buying anymore....I have more than enough to last the few years I have left.

Personally - talking vintage - the hunt is (if not more) fun than the purchase

Yes. Not that I'm a collector, I always thought I would eventually be but I joined this forum and AP forum a few days ago and realized it's not for me, I wouldn't enjoy the time and effort spent maintaining watches and a lot of them aren't that beautiful to me but the members here are all sweethearts ❤️

I wouldn't say I've lost interest in watches lately, I've put them on the back burner lately, since my interest in them was getting to the point where it was effecting my personal life. For example, staying up till 4-5am browsing for watches.

Here's the Le Coultre that I picked up today and there is a vintage Tudor in the same store that seems to have my name on it.
I guess the interest is strong, but the budget is weakening a bit.

I still really love and appreciate fine watches, but to a large extent, yes for me. I kind of just pick a watch in the morning and wear it. I seem to have accumulated enough watches (8) that I have enough variety and just don't see any watches I can't live without. Sure I could upgrade from AP, VC, and PAM to PM versions or even to brands like Patek and Lange, but I know it wouldn't make me any happier. I may consolidate down to about five, but don't need to so I'll probably hold tight for now. This same thing happened to me in photography, but after a few years of no new purchases, I've been traveling a bit and loving photography again. I'm back in that game and on FredMiranda.com's buy and sell board more than TRF.
