Also . . . Rolex themselves won't service 'old' Chronographs any more (well, in the UK anyway - dunno about the USA or Switzerland itself)

Hi brian

can you post some pics of them in collections please, as i would love to see them.

I am in awe of your collection and would love to discuss it more with you.

And for you to share the stories that go with some of the watches, another question do you have the boxes etc with all the watches, as this sometimes does have an impact on the prices. I can speak from experience with this one.....

The market is in for bit of a rollercoaster ride at the moment, but as other forum members have already stated, we all just have to bide our time.

speak to you soon.

Where in France do you live, my partners parents live about 30kms from nantes and I import parquet from france.

regards
Marke

Hi Marke,

I'm in a small town just North of Limoges (which is just about 'dead centre' of France) . . . lots of mountains and lakes here . . . hot in the summer . . . but proper seasons . . . with snow in winter.

I got fed up of the UK 'rat race' . . . I'm a car nut . . . in France I can drive on traffic-free roads without getting my picture taken and points on my licence.

My watches don't really have 'stories' as such (some of my cars do/did) . . . they all have the correct boxes . . . all have papers too . . . although as I mentioned before, the '67 5513 has a 'booklet' guarantee rather than a green certificate . . . the 6363 also has a different kind of booklet/guarantee . . . the rest have green certificates . . .

I've bought a few of them from a guy called Tom Bolt in London (and his partner Marc Salem) . . . they're knowledgeable guys (allowing for the fact, they're dealers *wink*)

My ca. 1970 5513 has a booklet guarantee as well. I was wondering about that. You are the first to post in this regard (as far as I have seen). Thanks.

I don't have any pics of my own . . . those ^ were the pics the dealers sent me, back when I bought them . . .

Watches are real hard to photograph (any tips anyone?) . . . especially when you're a crap photographer like me

My daughter just took this pic for me . . . with her 'phone . . . (that's HER wrist - not mine )

I need to figure taking pics without 'flash'

Sweet!! The 1680 is my favorite vintage diver.

My RED III/70 on the inside caseback,

Love the WHITES too. They make a great everyday wearer.

I take about 500 photos and hope for the best.

I have a light box I use,

I usually use a mirror to set the watches on. Seems like it "bounces" the light a bit. I set my camera on a tripod. Sometimes putting a slight angle on the watch reduces the glare on the crystal--especially with sapphire.

Maco is a must to pull detail

Play with the lighting to get the "look" you want,

Here's a 16800 I kinda like,

Some of the hardest shots are multiples. You really gotta play with light and angles,

I tend to find gloss dials tough because of the tendency to get the camera in the dial.

Whereas matt dials seem a bit easier,

Comparison shots are about placement to me--just have to experiment,

Identical pairs can be tricky,

Group shots are an excerise in frustration. Prop em up and shoot.

You just 'aced' everyone dude

Cool pics . . . even cooler collection . . . *BB tips hat to Mike*

I'm just about to buy a Fuji Finepix S100fs camera . . . gonna have a play with that (I'm no photographer - but my photographer mates reckon it's the best all-round 'idiot proof' macro)

I'm still sat here blown away with your collection dude

Yeah, relieved . . . and puzzled. No one has explained to me when the punch papers warranty came into being. May I assume that the evolution of all this is 1) booklet, 2) punch papers, 3) plastic card? Or were the punch papers and booklet guaranty issued simultaneously?

BTW, I gather from your watches and your cars and the whole business about France that you are one of the stinking, filthy rich guys. Congratulations, you are living my dream.

No . . . not rich dude . . . just worked hard (and got lucky on some things) . . . bought wisely . . . and managed to 'get out' at the right time . . .

I was born on a council estate in a rather deprived part of the UK.

I meant no offense, by the way. I hope you know that. Some nuance is lost in cyber-talk.

Great watches and not-bad-at-all pics!
