The DBlue dial really is special and you must see it in real life to fully appreciate it. IMO it's the best Rolex dial out there. The 5mm domed crystal is ultra cool, and the technology of this piece places it at the top of Rolex diver engineering without question The SD43 on the other is better proportioned and the first professional Rolex with the new movement. You really need both |

SD43 hands down. When more people lay eyes/hands/wrists on how beautiful it is, it will be crowned King.

I can't stop staring at my SD43. I'm absolutely smitten. Love the other SD's as well, don't get me wrong, but the 43 checks all the boxes for me.

I'll go deepblue purely for it being different in size and dial colour, which gives it a whole new versatility and variety.
A 40mm SD will seem too similar to a sub.

First place SD4K. It's the essence of the SD. Second SD43, third DSSD black and last DSSD d-Blue.
Everyone will have a different answer, and that is what makes the modern SD so appealing.

Deepsea or the Deepblue. Cyclops kills it for me. I'm not a fan. I had a sub for a minute and I didn't like the cyclops, I guess that's why they make different watches. What calls my name may not call yours.

Kinda hard for me to vote, as I haven't been able to lay my hands on the new SD43 just yet...but as of right now I'm going with the D-Blue. Such an amazing reference.

I've always believed that the Black dial DSSD is the king. The very best Sea-dweller. And now by the looks of the poll. I know I was correct. What is popular by the masses is ALWAYS wrong.
Reasons I believe the black dial DSSD is king is it is classic but big Rolex watch. The regular size dwellers are too small and the D-blue is gimmicky. Especially with that sea green lettering. The funny thing is EVERYONE hated the D-Blue when it first came out. |

For me, it's the SD4K, no contest. Classic size and DNA of the classic SD. As much I want to like the SD43, I just can't get over the cyclops and big bezel.

I have owned all of the modern SD's. SD43 is the best by a wide margin. Perfect sport watch IMO.

116600 gets a nod over the 126600 for me. Both worth owning.
No interest in the other two. If 16600 was included, I would have that in second place. It has the best proportions all around but unfortunately I am a sucker for ceramic and glidelock.

It is a full featured watch(Cyclops) with the very latest movement. As I have both DSSD variants my last to go would be the D-blue because it has a totally unique dial and it may be worth something in the distant future. If I were starting out again and in the market for a new Rolex diver as a one and only watch, then the SD43 would most likely be my preference by a good margin. |

If I recall I was focused on the gimmicky nature of the Green text to the point of labelling the watch the Deep Sea-weed. I was hasty and foolish in my initial assessment It wasn't until I saw one in real life that my opinion was changed instantly and it just goes to show that one shouldn't rush to judgement. It must be remembered that the only pics anyone saw initially were the publicity pics put out by Rolex and they have typically always been a little underwhelming/unflattering. Probably because they aren't real pics and more like sterile computer generated images. No real pics were available because the watch was released outside of Basel so there weren't any initial reviews posted on the web with proper pics or videos that highlighted the beauty of the dial. The watch dial was a massive departure from what is typically associated with a Rolex diver which is probably why it was and still is regarded as rather comical which undermines it's credibility to a degree. It must be remembered that it is still a DSSD. Just dressed up a lot. |

It truly is amazing and I find it hard to imagine it not being a significant part of, or forming the cornerstone of a Rolex diver collection for one reason or another.

Had the deep sea blue, SD4000 and now the SD43. The SD 43 is by far the best. I wanted to love both of the other two (especially the deepsea blue with the mesmerizing dial) but they feel like a big metal blob on the wrist. The SD43, because of correct proportions, feels comfortable on the wrist with the weight evenly disbursed.

I was just offered a SD43 by my AD today but I have a D- Blue and like it. I am just about ready to pull the trigger on a TT Sub blue dial. Maybe when I see the new SD43 and try it on I'll change my mind.
