If no plan to buy more, Sub Date LN or LV, since it has date.
If you have plan to add more, GMT II BLNR and then Sub ND. Then Daytona and the...

114060 is a great choice for a first Rolex. Goes anywhere and does everything. Compare prices at AD's and trusted sellers here.

I've called around to a couple AD's, and all of them seem to be refusing to budge on price even with paying all cash. Any tips to get this to budge on this?

The only thing one of them offered was to ship the watch to a family member in another state to avoid the sales tax, which is not something I want to do.

I buy from David SW for the last few years. The main AD in my region is 120 miles away and while they are decent, I can get a better deal through David and he ships the watch right to my office the next day, so no need to travel.

I had a good relationship with a AD back in the late 80's through the 90's but he closed his shop due to health reasons and the increasing rules from Rolex.

Try the watches on at the same time and the one you truly desire will sing to you. Alternatively, none of them may end up doing anything for you and you end up leaving the store with a watch you weren't even considering. It happened to me.

Good luck!!!

SubC no date, and for that money new from Takuya. You're getting a great deal on a great watch.

As suggested by others on the forum. I would contact one of the trusted sellers on TRF and ask what they can offer you one for within your budget. They might have a LNIB and/or BNIB at a price cheaper than the prices quoted above. You will have piece of mind that you purchased a brand new or like new Rolex at a great price from a trusted seller.

Personally, I'd stick with the 114060 as my first Rolex; classic sub, will never go out of style, can wear it up with a suit or down with jeans and a T.

Good luck on whatever option you choose!

Ended up pulling the trigger today on a brand new from AD SubC no date black face. Love the watch, and ultimately decided that it was worth the piece of mind for the extra money to know what I was getting was all original.

I went and spoke with the pre owned shop today and after some probing, they admitted that that one of the subs they were having me look at had an after market bezel, and that kinda turned me off to the whole pre owned deal....not gonna spend this kinda money and not know exactly what I'm getting.

The only negative was that despite paying cash, the AD was only willing to come down to $7350 + tax(as I don't have anyone to ship the watch to). I tried to get them to at least throw in a watch winder, and reminded the manager several times that I was saving them the transaction cost, but overall, he seemed to have the attitude that he didn't really give two s**ts if I purchased the watch or walked. Does that last part seem weird to anyone?

Appreciate all the input folks. Cheers!!!

The one you've tried on your wrist and sings to you the most.

No trying, no buying.

Once you decide if you want a date or not, PM/email DavidSW and get his BNIB pricing. Send him a worry free wire and the rest will be history (with a 5 year full warranty from Rolex).
