How the times have changed

The new style is really growing on me. As a 16710 owner I always said the new models leave me cold. But I'm really starting to like that bezel in all black.

I agree. Love my 16710 but it's 6 digit replacement with the black bezel Is my favourite 6 digit Rolex.

See, here's the rub: I love the functionality of the 3085/3185 movement, but I don't like the 'Mickey Mouse' look of the 6 digit cases.

Sure, the Master IIs are stunning watches, but for me the absolute platonic form remains with the 16750/3 models -- I just love that slightly fatter bezel and warmth of the acrylic crystal.

I wish the 3186 would squeeze into the 16750 case! 🤤

As I look at those wrists shots, I realize it confirms why I prefer the older 5-digit models. Damn, look at those unsculptured lugs on the ceramics. I wonder it they could have been made any larger...

So true JP.....if it weren't for the interesting dials like the lvc/blue ym or the nice blue on the blnr....I'd far prefer the five digit dimensions...ok the sd4k squeezes by also with the nice proportions and comfort as well...and the modern Daytona/DD.....but the maxi cases in general is not a good step forward.

Looking at the flimsy bracelets of the pre 6 digit of any Rolex model, or single point fixed bezels that rarely can be perfectly aligned, it amazes me how long it took Rolex to build a full quality watch. I guess quality was used before for pre 6 digit as to describe reliability, otherwise it's not the case.

Having owned vintage and now modern pieces, I certainly prefer the case, proportions, and heft of the modern iterations. Though I prefer the vintage prices :)
