Probably going to get some hate messages but YES - the 36mm is Women size these days.

Its way too small. Look at it next to the Daytona how small it looks and the Daytona is already smallish watch.

36mm these days IS a women size like it or not. Go into an AD and ask for a 36mm. Watch the expression on their face when you ask it. LOL

"Sir - thats a womens size watch". Ive had that exact line said to me twice.

I agree with the others, 36mm looks "right" on your wrist. For my wrist size (7.5"), 36mm is at point where only a small handful of watches look proportional. For my wrist size, I think 40-42mm looks perfect for a sport watch and for a dress watch, a slim (<12mm thick) 38-40mm. With Rolex increasing the sizes on some of their watches, I don't think larger watches are a fad at this point, I think it's just the norm these days. Now if you're talking about those 48+mm monstrosities, that's just bad taste.

You should not compare it to other watches.
Compare it only to your wrist size.........and 36mm is perfect for you. Superb.

It seems to me that you are a "victim" of the big watch trend. Because more models come
out in larger sizes it doesn't mean we have to go with it to fit in.
Fashion, trends don't change our wrist size....

It is absolutely beautiful. I love the size and always appreciated more in business formal environments.

The larger variants work well in casual settings.

However I wear 34-48mm so there really isn't a size I would be against.

Went to the AD 2 weeks ago and compared my 36 to the new 1. Slept on it and called the next day and told them I'm keeping what I have. My 2 cents !

I would also submit it depends on how you intend to wear the watch. A 36 sized watch may fit better under shirt cuffs and suits if worn for work. I like a smaller watch at work and a larger casual watch on the weekends.

I prefer the classic look of the 36 on A Day-Date or Datejust...

I think that the 36 mm looks good on your wrist. With that said if you made a move to the 40 mm it would also look good on your wrist. The DD is a classic watch and I really like it. My issue is the lack of adjustability in the bracelet but it does not matter to some. I think it is funny when people say the large watch movement is a trend. At what point does it change from being a trend to just being the way that it is for some. Everyone has different tastes and wrist sizes so it is a personal choice. If you want a new larger watch, now is the time. If you want to keep your classic, great. No wrong answer.

Coming from a 42mm fossil and a 41mm JLC Squadra, at first I felt 36 was too small but after a few weeks I readjusted and feel like 36mm is perfect. I considered a DJ41, went to the AD to try it on, thought about it and decided against it because it didn't feel classic enough.

How do you figure? By all the new 36mm pieces introduced at SIHH and Basel this year?

OP, that 36 looks great on you.

It looks great on you.

Is it a 'ladies' size? I don't think so, even the 36mm looks too large on most ladies regardless of what they imagine. 31mm or less is a good ladies size.

My only problem with this is that you're trying to apply your opinion of something into an implied standard. You could have saved yourself a lot of time by just saying "Yeah, I find 36mm to be too small *for me personally*" and no one would have batted an eye but you went the troll route.

My wrist is slightly larger than 7.25" and it seems to me the 6 digit Day Date 'wears' larger than 36mm maybe closer to 38mm. The Daytona while advertised as 40mm is in reality 38.5mm and 'wears' smaller. For comparison the 6 digit day date also wears larger than the 5 digit day date but is advertised as the same size.

Too small for what??? If you can read the dial, what else matters??? I thought a watch was used to tell time, I guess I was incorrect. Watch lugs hanging over the wrists looks like the wearer is being worn by the watch, not the other way around. Looks like something that may be found in the center aisle at the mall. I hope I live long enough to see the dinner plate fad leave. Bought the wife a 31mm Datejust for a wedding present. The 26mm's dial was just too small to read.

Im waiting on an explorer 36mm. I hope I don't feel the same way.

I think that Day Date looks perfect on you. It's probably because you're used to wearing such large watches. The Day Date 36 is a timeless classic and will never go out of style, I would 100% keep it

I wouldn't go that far! I had a DJ 1601 and I will say once the idea that the 36 is looking small creeps in your head it doesn't go away. I ended up always looking at the watch some days saying "it's a classic size" and other days saying "it's too small" it drove me nuts so I traded. Now I don't go above 40mm (except for the DJ41) and I believe 40mm is a perfectly balanced size. Now run and go get that DD40!!

36mm is a great size in general but based on the pictures above, especially for you. You have a small wrist and 36mm looks fantastic on you. Anything over 40mm would look rediculous on that wrist. I have a 7.75" wrist. 40mm Sub is as big as I'll go and I was quite happy wearing a 36mm DJ for months.
Why do people keep saying this? Rolex (which most deem to be very conservative and one of the last to be trendy) has a Sky Dweller 42, a Yachtmaster 44, a Sea Dweller 43 & 44.........this is not a trend 'already on the way out'. 42-44 is here to stay without a doubt. Sure the oversize 48mm ridiculousness won't last, but those who have been claiming a 42-44 is trendy (for years) need to face modern time reality. and this is all coming from somebody who prefers 38-40.
