Not in the same league. Lange wins by a wide margin.

Two very different watches. The day date is iconic the Lange exquisite. I would have pitched a Breguet against the Lange, as the style is comparable. But back to the original question I would go with the day date. If it's good enough for presidents it's good enough for me.

Lange 1 is a great watch but I think for daily use i'll take DD anyday, try DD40 with unique dial like blue or green
Those dial will pop along with the fluted bezel

My vote would be the new ALS Lange 1 Moonphase in WG with the black dial. Check out this article from Hodinkee:

And the high res pics from ALS:

Who wants a watch that says Doppelfederhaus on it!

Day date by the length of the Flemington straight mate!

Congratulations! I think you made the best choice out of all of them. DD isn't my cup of tea, while the Lange just floats under the radar and is impeccably finished. Enjoy it in good health!

You are asking in the wrong sub

I would personally choose the DD but that ALS 1 looks fantastic on you! Great choice!

Who doesn't want Two of Federer's Houses written on their dial?

I'm debating between these two watches (and a few others). I'd be looking at the Grand Lange 1 in WG/black versus the WG DD40 with green dial. How are you liking both of them? If you could do it all over again, which one would you get first now that you have both?

Did you get a deployant for your Lange? I am a die-hard bracelet/clasp fan and really don't like pin buckles, so that's a minor consideration since the Lange clasp adds something $2k to the purchase.

I'm also considering the AP 15400 in silver dial along as a contender in this purchase. If I get the AP I'd also be either adding a DJ41 or a JLC Master Ultra Thin in blue or the MUT Moon in WG/grey dial. Thoughts?

As a 10th watch I'd get the Lange without a doubt. As an only watch, the Rolex. Easily. Horological inferiority or not.
I've worn one of my Langes once or twice a week for over a dozen years and it looks the same as the day I bought it except for the "cuff scratches" on the bezel. As far as a "daily wearer", it depends on what your day is like.

To the OP: Congratulations on getting both watches, as they are quite different. Regardless, I voted Lange in white gold because it's more versatile than pink, even though I probably like pink better.

Ok now I’m acutely, painfully jealous! What a stunning collection. Wear them all in the best of health!

Still don’t have a sense as to which order to buy mine in...

Back to what you have asked, between L1 and DD40, I’ll still get L1 first if I have a chance to make the choice again. It is more special.
